Is it just me or does anyone else tink it would be feasable to cut Gilbert?? He just doesn't have the same legs under him... he's taken a pay cut so the hit won't be AS severe... plus while only VERY VERY little it would give us some cap money to help sign some of those free agents still floating around... I mean its OBVIOUS that at this pace he won't be here next year anyways... so why not cut our losses now??? Its just my opinion and I was curious what anyone else thought.

No real cap problems this year. We'd save 3 million in salary. Too bad there's no one really to spend it on.

The rest of his prorated bonus money would go onto next year. I got to figure he's getting the axe in February anyway, and it'd all come due then as well.

At this point I'm abivalent towards him. Jenkins has played well, and Buckner is a similar guy. Maybe not as strong or agile, but similar in style. We get what we can get from him this year, or we can move forward. He's not in our long term plans, I can't figure anyway.

Can we make him be Sir Purr?

Can we get him to sing 'I'm a big fat sack of crap' on The Morning Page?

Can we slather him down with Crisco and watch him get raped by a 250lb Mastiff?

Sir Purr does those dances and moves. He'd probably throw out his knee.

    >>Can we get him to sing 'I'm a big fat sack of crap' on The Morning Page?

No, but funnily enough, that is the title of his autobiography.

    >>Can we slather him down with Crisco and watch him get raped by a 250lb Mastiff?

Only if there's a money shot involved.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing him cut. His medicority is maddening. Get rid of him and start Buckner. Replace him with a FA at DT, OL, WR or CB from the cutdowns.

he'd save $1.5 mil actually, per WP's well kept up cap page. But that's still good money. I don't think he's going to be that productive this year.

Betcha we could've landed Sam Adams with that $1.5 million.

    From ESPN...
The Raiders' offer significantly topped the $1.5 million first-year payouts being offered by the Seahawks and Broncos. The Ravens had been talking about a $2.5 million signing bonus on a multi-year deal. The Bengals had been willing to pay a $3 million signing bonus on a four-year deal that didn't interest Adams.

Looks like he was kinda expensive after all. However, point well taken Meatpile - I do believe we can find someone who can contibute more than Dilbert.
