End result is that we would still save a sliver of money next year by cutting him. Fuck him, bye. Pick up a body off waivers and move on.

If they keep him until next June, they can split that $10 mil across two years. But that's no reason to prolong the agony, IMO. I've thought all along they should take their medicine in one gulp and get it over with, just like Dallas did with Aikman.

What's the alternitive? That's the real question. It doesn't make sense to sign someone if they're not an upgrade. After all, we are still paying the man, so lets see if we can get anything out of him until we can find a better solution. I don't think Fox & Co. are particularly enamored with him, but there really has not been anyone available who is much of an upgrade (other than Johnson, who would have cost a pretty penny in addition to Gilbert's "dead" salary...and that's assuming he was even willing to consider us).

Don't get me wrong, I think it is time he go, but dropping him for the sake of dropping him does not make much sense to me. So unless a viable alternitive presents itself this year, I expect Gilbert will be here for the duration; but I then fully expect he will be gone this off-season.

Man, this is having your cake and eating it too. Capers and company laid a fucking on us that went in the wrong hole. I have never heard of a deal that you cannot get out of with at least a saving of some kind. Then that high ass bastard admits that he is not physically fit to even go the duration of his contract. I suppose the Lord told him to lay the hose to us big time. I say this is bad for the team and fans. We have gone downhill ever since this mutterfucker has come here. Give him a kick in the ass, if anyone can kick that high, and get him the hell outta here.

    >>>He said the fact he’s no longer starting was "humbling," and the move reiterated what he already knew — he isn’t the player he was a few years ago.<<<

This is the line that caused my heart to flutter with laughter! He was better last year than he was three years ago?!
Cut the lump of stool and eat the cash. Be done with it and don't leave it hanging in the wind. We're not going anywhere fast THIS year, might as we'll set us up for some releif in 2004.
The future isn't now for the Panthers, probably not next year either. 2004 is when I expect they will turn the corner and become a team to fear.
