After this weekend the Braves will be back in first, where they belong, before the All-Star break.

I said on opening day that Atlanta would find a way to stay in the hunt and Philadelphia would find a way to screw it, looks like the Phillies pitching staff is doing just that. All of a sudden, some people find Millwood overrated and tradeable? How funny that works out sometimes. Florida is showing just how things came together just perfectly last season for them. The Mets are hanging a bit tougher than I expected. We'll see how long they'll last.

If Atlanta were to sweep Philly this weekend, it may be a rough 2nd half of the season for everybody else in the NL East.

Here are the updated standings going into tomorrow night.

    Team W L PCT. GB

    Phillies 45 39 .536 -
    Braves 43 41 .512 2.0
    Mets 43 41 .512 2.0
    Marlins 43 42 .506 2.5

First off, in all honesty it would suprise me if Atlanta does go in and sweep the Phillies, but this is one of those series where if Atlanta were to come in and sweep and have the lead going into the break, there's gonna be a lot of soul searching going on in Philly, and Bowa may be in really hot water during the break.

Even with a bullshit homer by Furcal, Phillies come back from 6-1 in the 7th to dash the Braves hearts 7-6.

How do you like me now!
