Gerald Wallace makes NBA All-Defense 1st Team

    Is this the first time a Charlotte pro basketball player has made an All-NBA 1st team while in Charlotte? If Zo made first team it was undoubtedly in Miami. I think Rice and LJ only made 2nd or 3rd team All-NBA. Pretty sure we've never had someone on the NBA All-Defense team.

    Until now.

    Didn't Anthony Mason make the All-Defensive team one year?

    Checking Basketball reference shows Mase made the All-Defensive 2nd team in 1996-97. He also surprisingly made All-NBA 3rd team that year (didn't remember that.) Didn't make a team in 1997-98.

    Glen Rice also made All-NBA 3rd team in 1997-98. LJ made All-NBA 2nd team in his second season.

    Just did. Zo made the 1st team All-Rookie and two All-Star teams for the Hornets. Zo never made any All-NBA teams until the strike shortened year of 99 when he made All-NBA first team, All-Defensive team first team and Defensive POY. The next year he repeated as Defensive POY and All-Defensive first team, and made All-NBA second team.


    edit: Also I overlooked Rice making All-NBA second team the same year that Mason made All-NBA third team. I believe that was the year we beat the Hawks because Dike couldn't stop Mase. Fun times.

    Yeah, that's a time when I actually liked watching the NBA. I was pretty damn upset that Zo got away from Charlotte.
