George RR Martin's Song of Fire & Ice on HBO

Well, we can still always say the books were better. I just hate it when my perception of a character gets ruined. I'm wondering how they will cast Tyrion. I think it will be enjoyable anyway. Plus, it probably won't come out for another year or 2.

Yeah, me too. I hope they do it as well as it can possibly be done. There's such tremendous potential there.

That's my pet peeve with a film adaptation of a book I love--having my image of just one character ruined by casting the wrong person in the role. I think Tyrion will be the biggest challenge to cast in this.
It will be interesting to see what kind of cast they assemble.

I do expect to enjoy it a lot, even if it's less than ideal. I'd just so love to see it really, really well done.

He's not ugly enough or short enough IMO. They need that midget that played on Seinfeld or the one that's on the grill in that commercial that I can't remember what the hell it's about.

 

I've read about 4 chapters. TON of characters. Good thing there's an appendix. I'm already using it.

 

I thought there were too many characters when I first started reading. But you figure out the connections quick enough.

As for the tv series - it's inevitable people will complain about the casting, characters or plot lines that get left out or changed - but it will still be a kick ass series.

hardest part will be that Martin spends tons of time setting up characters flaws and personalities and that won't be possible in a tv series.

I think all of us know that they have to absolutely nail the Tyrion casting or the whole thing will flop.

And no, I don't think Vern Troyer (sp?) is the answer. Besides, is Tyrion a midget? I just thought he was short & ugly, like a younger DeVito.

 

Its gonna be an adaptation. The could do something like make him a hunchback instead of a midget.
