This is a public forum so I will give my opinion where ever and whenever I want.

I have heard your story before, different obese person, same story. All your medical problems are a result of being obese, not an excuse to be. And nobody "plateaus" at 295. You were still eating a ton and that is why you stopped losing weight. It might have seemed like less to you but it was still way too much.

You are no exception to weight loss. If you burn more calories than you consume, you will lose weight. It is the opposite of the formula that got you fat and there is no disputing that. You stopped losing weight because you were consuming too many calories.

I was referring to just going on a diet, no cutting yourself open and fucking with your body.

Have you ever seen anyone on survivor gain weight?

People who "diet" with minimal results have no self control. Stop eating and you will lose weight. Everything else is horseshit.

Have you ever lost a substantial amount of weight? Sure if you stop eating you will eventually lose weight but all a drug addict has to do is stop taking drugs. If you have not been there you can not understand how difficult it is. For a lot of people it is like holding a basketball under water. Once you let go of it it shoots back up.

Tell you what you ought to do. Go a couple days with out eating and then decided if you could feel that way the rest of your life in order to stay thin?

And your opinion is like your vacuum cleaner....You have one, and it sucks.

Yes, I plateaued at 295. I was at 340 lbs when I first started the diet and once I got to 295, I hit the wall. My body is my body, and just because you think no one plateaus after losing 45 lbs - means nothing. My body isnt yours, and yours isnt mine...So to say a body is the same, is erroneus. So stop with the bullshit of saying no one plateaus after a certain amount of weight loss.

If I was trying to lose 50 lbs...Yes, diet and exercise is the way to go. But since Im shooting for a weight loss of anywhere between 125-150 lbs, Im using this as an added push to the weight loss procedure and using this as a lifestyle change in that Im learning how to eat all over again. And yes, I've exhausted all kinds diet methods (Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Diet Pills, Diet & Exercise, Starvation).

Regardless of what you're trying to do, which is asswage me from not having it, I'm gonna have the surgery whether you like it or not.. I want advice from people who've had the surgery on how to prepare, what to buy for food, how to prepare it, and the other aftercare issues following the surgery. Again, if you cant contribute without engaging in a pissing contest, then DONT CONTRIBUTE.

Warden, I was 34 -- 5'11" and 315 when I started out. My dad is a type II diabetic, and my mom had seriously high cholesterol. Both had strokes. I was hypoglycemic with sleep apnea, using a CPAP machine. That being said, I'm not going to say that just because I was able to lose the weight I needed to on a semi-liquid diet and exercise program, that the same program will automatically work for you. Everyone's chemistry is different. If your docs believe laproscopic gastric bypass is your best option, then go with it. It's a drastic measure, but you have a drastic need, especially with your career. Here are a few things I've been told by folks who have had similar procedures:

    1. The surgery does not guarantee you will lose all the weight you need to, nor if you do, that it will stay off. Follow-up is critical.

    2. You might exerience nutritional/absorption problems and have to take supplements for the rest of your life.

    3. It can be as good as you hope it will be.

Good luck. I hope this procedure is the catalyst for the new, healthier life you and those who care about you want.

Many years ago I lost 45 pounds in six months. It's not easy but it's about self control and discipline.

Cutting your stomach out is ridiculous. Stop fucking eating, people. Eating is for nourishment, it's not a lifestyle.

I don't doubt you hit a wall at 50 lbs but it is not some unsolved mystery nor is it because you are different than everyone else, it's because you were eating too much. That first 50 was most likely just water weight anyway.

In case you didn't know, the two quotes above are contradictory. You did not have the self control or discipline to eat right so you didn't lose weight. Period.

Now you are going to pay someone to cut your stomch out. That is a joke. It would be cheaper and safer to get your jaw wired shut. It would be cheapest and safest to stop eating so fucking much.

There is no mystery to weight loss and you are not different than anyone else. You are obese because you eat too much of the wrong stuff. Stop with the excuses and stop looking for the easy way out.
