Spent my morning transplanting periwinkle to a slope on my front yard that I'm tired of mowing. The rain yesterday made it easy to dig in between the rocks. Spent the afternoon moving three rose bushes that were in the overgrown part of my backyard. While rooting around back there, I found a stand of day lilies and moved 28 of the larger clumps to edge the driveway.

My seeds aren't doing crap inside. I've been moving them outdoors as the weather permits. I doubt they'll get large enough to live through the transplanting in 2 weeks. I may just repurchase all the seeds and hope for the best when I plant them directly into the soil.

I transplanted into the final containers (other than the tomatoes). It's so rediculously fucking windy here most of the time I can't put things outside yet.

I'm a rookie and am going to try my luck at honeydew melons this year. Any pitfalls I should know about? [I've never raised melons of any kind.]

I'm going to attempt a container veggie garden this year too. I absolutely do NOT have a green thumb, so this will be interesting, to say the least. Thanks Token for the info on cumcumbers. I love them and will attempt two crops.

Chip, the planter looks great! If my veggies do will this year, I think I'll try to talk hubby into making me some like that for next year.

    I bought seed for

    cucumbers
    bell peppers
    squash
    zucchini
    roma tomatoes
    radishes

We'll see which ones come up!

I made two today and transplanted tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapenos and tobasco peppers into them. However, I deviated from that plan. I've come to find out that PVC is thought to leach chemicals into the water.

    I used this plan:

A little more expensive but easier than the first. I used bamboo for the water pipe.

My back hurts and I am hungry.

Spent all day tilling virgin dirt. I pulled out more rocks than Rome used to build their roads. I've got a nice patch of dirt about 7' x 12'. I should be able to get more rocks out when I till it again before I plant. Threw some compost material in it, a little 10-10-10, and watered it in really good. The birds are eating all my earthworms, but I figure they'll make more.

Two more weeks. I'll put the tomato, cukes, and squash seeds in the ground.

My shoulders hurt like there's no tomorrow. My legs have finally gone numb from the abuse I've been giving them. I wake up each morning now and think, fuck, I gotta piss, but it hurts to stand, sit, or breathe.

Spent today building flower boxes for the two front windows. Once the paint dries, I'll attach them to the house. I love left over plywood given to my by the neighbors.
