I left town for a week and a half and my garden exploded. Peppers everywhere and even a new tomato plant that must have come from the seeds of a tomato that was eaten by a squirrel.

The last time everything grew this well was when I left town. :(

You prolly have nice garden gnomes that take care of things when you are gone.

It's time to start thinking about this :REDanceBanana008:

This year I'm going to be more selective. No beans, lettuce, squash, etc. I'm joing a CSA to get all that stuff. I think I will concentrate on San Marzano tomatoes and habaneros. Both will be used predominantly for making sauces.

Will it hurt to throw a bag of lime on the garden soil? It's not a very large garden but I've heard of others doing this.

I'm far from an experienced gardener but I know that lime is good for most al common garden items, especially tomatoes and peppers. Definately put down some lime.

Test the soil first, some garden centers have soil test kits, or take a sample to your local Cooperative Extension Service for whatever county you're in.

Did that last year with the regular yard and as expected I can't put enough lime on my yard. I'm going to dump a bag on the garden and see what happens. Then I'm going to get a freaking gun and shoot that damn mole that I can't get rid of.
