Picked up the DVD today. Mine didnt come with a booklet insert - just curious if anyone else got it & had the insert?

It is a kickass movie even if I dont like the ending at all. Daniel Day Lewis' performance is one of the best I've ever seen in any movie in my lifetime. It's amazing to me that it isnt talked about more & mentioned with the best of them. It's right up there with the Godfather & other classics - I just wish pretty boy Leo & Cameron Diaz were on his level.

All that said, even with the bad ending, this one gets a thumbs up. A very welcome addition to my library that I'll watch over and over.

It was just a tad bit better than average. Way too long for a mediocre movie. Day Lewis was very good in it, Diaz was bad as usual, and Leo was surprisingly better than I expected. The ending sucked, and it could have helped saved the movie.

If you like Daniel Day Lewis, rent In The Name Of The Father.

    He's a great actor.

Day-Lewis was excellent and DiCaprio was good, but Diaz is a horrible actress. There were parts in the movie where they dubbed her in an accent, others where she tried one, and then most parts where she had none at all. Wasn’t a decent actress available?

The sets of old NY were very well done and fairly realistic; it’s a shame that the historical references were not. Gangs had its moments, but not nearly enough to make a two hour and 45 minute movie entertaining. If this wasn’t a Scorsese, it certainly wouldn’t have received the attention it has.

I think the film was shot in Italy at some place called CINORAMA (?) . . . Very historic film lot/studio . . Fellini (?) made a lot of movies there, which is why Scorse shot the movie there . . . Hopefully I'll get around to buying the DVD at some point . . . Saw the movie and I thought the ending was OK, but not great . . . If the guys in those graves could see what New York looked like today, their jaws would drop (ending FX showing the city evolving over the years to modern times was A+  !!!!!)

This movie fuck'n rocked. DD Lewis is incredible in this role. The Pianist guy was certainly good and probably deserved as Oscar most yrs but Lewis was spectacular in this role. He should have won the oscar IMO. I loved this movie.

    Told ya Shock.

I saw it in the theater and thought pretty much the same thing. For anyone who remembers DD Lewis from Last of the Mohicans - you're in for a shock. He completely transforms himself. It is worth watching just for his performance.
