    Tidbit from profootballtalk.com:

GAFFNEY DEAL UPS ANTE FOR FOSTER

A league source tells us that the record-setting contract nabbed by second-rounder Jabar Gaffney has increased the expectations of the next man in line, Carolina running back DeShaun Foster.

Gaffney, who'll get $2.15 million up front on a seven-year, $5.38 million deal, was the first overall choice in the second round.

According to the source, Foster will be looking for something close to Gaffney's contract.

The trade of defensive end Jay Williams to the Dolphins gives the Panthers enough room under the cap to sign their remaining rookies. However, with first-rounder Julius Peppers and second-rounder Foster each trying to snag a big, fat piece of the 2002 rookie pool, don't be surprised if one or both of them miss the start of camp.

From Steve Reed at the Gaston Gazette, 7/24. Just like you mentioned, meat.

The problem rests in the fact that earlier this month the expansion Houston Texans made wide receiver Jabar Gaffney the highest-paid second round draft choice in league history. Foster was drafted 34th overall, one spot behind Gaffney and is seeking a similar deal.
