Oh, he’d be better than Byrd, and would likely be better than Smith. He’s been a starter. I don’t think he’d be more than a temporary band-aid, and IMO we need a more consistent guy, as well as some guy with upside size and speed.

I’ve never really liked him. So much so that I thought San Fran would have gotten rid of him last year.

yeah, if we're taking a temp starter like that I'd much rather it be Gadsden, who's still somewhat effective intermediate to long and puts all his heart into it. JJ should never suck as much as he does for his talents.

Moulds or Price over Gadson. Is / will either one be available?

    Moulds will not.

Price will be quite pricey, Buffalo will try to resign him, as will others, and we new starter FA needs at qb, tackle, guard, probably rb, and linebacker, with Navies being an UFA. The idea with Gadgen is he would cost less yet still be productive, give us nice insurance, but we could still draft a WR in round one if our guy falls, but wouldn't have to reach for one. Moose/Gadgen/Roy Williams/Smith/ sounds pretty good. Add a late round pick and/or a cheap young FA prospect, and we will have depth, and can still address our other needs without blowing our wad on one guy.

Off topic, but as well as WW played statistically, and he is a good pursuit player and tackler, he absolutely blows in coverage and doesn't handle blockers well. Therefore, I'm not really comforatable evevating him yet to weakside starter next year. Which means we try and resign Navies, or another weakside player in FA. That would leave WW as the top backup. He's played well enough to be a backup MLB to Morgan.

Seriously. Why is Moulds being mentioned?

He's not a free agent. We probably need to post a decent UFA list so that the less versed aren't spinning wheels.

Agree on Witherspoon. He's just not where he should be. Should expect to see some struggle, but the guy's near the tops in the team in tackles but seriously cannot play coverage the way we need him to. In the C2 because we have a theoretical hole right at the center of the deep zone, more often you'll see the middle dip back a little more than usual in the 5 under spots. And that gives Witherspoon a lot of room to cover. And he doesn't do well at it.

Nor is he that good on the weakside, where you've gotta handle backs and sometimes take the second level guys in man coverage. He'd be allright on the strong side, I guess, where he'd be less exposed and more locked to the TE, but Fields works better there as well.

It's pretty fucking frustrating. I wish I could say that he's at least good enough in coverage to keep in hopes that a strong front seven would allow him to not be exposed. But it's the exact opposite. Makes me want to keep Hannibal for one year if we can.

Another reason it's frustrating is that I'm pretty confident that Saleem Rasheed or even Allen would be good in coverage right now.

    >>The idea with Gadgen is he would cost less yet still be productive, give us nice insurance, but we could still draft a WR in round one if our guy falls, but wouldn't have to reach for one.

Yep. Best way to say it.

We could probably even get by with a second rounder there, though I don't like anyone there. Even Lloyd will probably go late first, and while I don't really like his style, he'd be good here the way we'd use him, but he won't be there. SO that's depressing.

What goes up must come down
Spinning wheel got to go round
Talkin 'bout your troubles it's a crying sin
Ride a painted pony let the spinning wheel spin

You got no money, you got no home
    Spinning wheel all alone
Talkin 'bout your troubles and you never learn
Ride a painted pony let the spinning wheel turn

Did you find the directing sign
On the straight end of the highway
Would you mind the reflecting sign
    Just let it shine
    Within your mind
And show you the colors that are real

Someone is waiting just for you
    Spinning wheel spinning through
Drop all your troubles by the riverside
Catch a painted pony on the spinning wheel line

    Someone's waiting just for you
    Spinning wheel spinning through
Drop all your troubles by the riverside
Ride a painted pony let the spinning wheel turn

Sorry, got off on a tangent... ever hear a phrase and think of a song immediately... ?

Picking up Gadson would be a smart move... it leaves us to draft freely at that point... we could either hold out hopes that one of our QB targets falls and if it doesn't trade down and pick up extra picks one of them being that TE that's name is escaping me... dammit... gimme a sec to go research.

  9. I'd rather see Brandon Stokley of the Ravens come here than Gadsen. He'd also come cheaper and IMO is that he is better than Gadsen.

if gadsden wants to be a backup, then ok.

this team needs to get a couple of young guys who can become solid starters.
