I didn't know we weren't poor for WRs. We could still take a guy like Oronde and need another decent deep threat. Moose is hurt a few games a year and Smith's got two things against him - his past and the idea that he'll be RFA after 2003.

A guy like Oronde allows us the flexibility. We can draft a guy first and still not be overdoing it. We can draft a guy in the second or third and still be OK. And we wouldn't be SOL if Moose isn't up to par, plus having starters for that year if we do cut Moose after 2003.

A guy like Boston, hurt as he can be and a sometimes-risk of character, would pretty much necessitate we not take WR early. And I don't really want to pass up Johnson or Williams since, as of now, they seem to be the best chance to go to #9 of what we want, like, and need. If we passed them up because we liked a QB there, I wouldn't be as disappointed as if they were the only value there but we had Boston and had to reach for something else.

I'm not saying we shouldn't at all pursue a guy like Price, but a Gadsden is more "prudent" based on what we'd do.

Of course, we could just burn a #3 on Lava Coles with a poison pill contract.

Coles was on Rome today too. He ain't leaving NY anytime soon. Herm Edwards stated he was the team's MVP. Gadson is our best shot at a FA WR.

    WR's

I'de take Gadsen and draft a Rashaun Woods, or Andre Johnson and be done with it, stay away frrom the big money "Price or Boston" - Moose, Smith, Woods, Gadsen 1-4 will move the chains and then some. I would probably resign Byrd also cheap.

Also should be noted we have several former Dolphins and a former Dolphins offensive coach here in Carolina to help sell the program.

I'm not so sure I'd want Gadson over anything here. He missed a few games last year, only played in 6 this year. Does not appear to be a big play type receiver (sounds like what we have). I could see him coming in and starting over everyone else cept Moose, hopefully they could stagger their injuries during the season.

I don't know if they are available, but there are a few teams that constantly throw the ball to 2-3 guys game in and game out. Some of these 2-3 guys may add more value than a Gadson, IMO.

    San Fran:
JJ Stokes - granted his production has not been as strong as Gadson, but look at who he has played behind & now he has to share time with another up and coming. Plus he has put together 4 or 5 seasons with no missed games. (prior to this season)
Tai Streets again, playing behind "the man". seems solid from what I have seen this year.

    Oakland:
I'd take Rice or Brown even though they are grandpas and start them over anything we have here next season. Oh then their is this Porter guy with 8 or so TDs, guess thats what happens when your 1 & 2 guys are real threats. #3 guy gets open some...

    Buffalo:
Moulds & Price - damn sorted by catches, both these guys are in the top 10, both have 9 TDs, both have over 1000 yards this year. Where is the love? Their team is only 1 game better than us.

Hmmm so maybe having a decent receiving corp is not that important after all? Just kiddin, but it makes you wonder.

Pittsburgh, St Louis, and Denver are other teams placing 2 receivers in the top 30 or so.

If you're looking for a big play guy, why ask about Stokes? he's Moose with less fire. Streets is talented but certainly benefits from what's around him. He's not a creator.

Moulds? I'm unsure of where Moulds comes into this.

I think Stokes would be better than Byrd or Hankton or whoever else has played behind S. Smith.

I think Streets has the potential to be a "creator". Right now anything he does is overshadowed. He would not be overshadowed by Moose. IMO

Moulds, aside from 3, almost 4 1000 plus yard seasons, if he were available, I'd take him over Gadson.

    I'd take Moulds, sure.

I'd probably take Marvin Harrison over Gadson as well. I'd take Donovan McNabb over Shawn King.

Is it remotely plausible that he will be available? No.

Stokes will likely be available. He's currently their #4 reciever. With reason. Wilson has outplayed him.

I don't think Streets is as dynamic as you suggest. Mental lapses, routes are still not where they could be, and really has never had to take over a game.

FWIW, we still hvae a lot of the guys in here who pushed for Ismail to come here and stay here last time. A knee injury later, he's not as fast, but he could be short term.

If that is the case and we could get him, I'd take him as a number 3 over what we have. He just needs some love.
