Cam has been entertaining, but the novelty wears off. Archie Manning was huge in New Orleans for a while, but the team kept losing and people stopped caring. He didn't help the team long-term despite being a pretty good and charismatic quarterback. Or look at Drew Bledsoe, who put up huge numbers in New England before Brady. At that time the Patriots were "among the NFL's least-valuable franchises," and went through several near-moves. Fan support didn't boom until the team started winning consistently under Brady. That's what ultimately matters, you apparently wetting yourself every time the Panthers are mentioned on ESPN notwithstanding.

 

Newton is definitely having a revenue impact on the Panthers. There were far more Panthers fans in the stands this past weekend than there would typically be for a 2-5 Panthers team. Even when you factor out the fact that most of the seats are PSL seats, you're still talking about a lot of money in terms of concessions, jerseys, and the all the other ways fans spend money when they show up for games.

 

Did you miss the part where the stands were filled with Redskins fans during the Washington game? It's not having as much of an impact as you want to pretend.

 

Nope, did not miss that. Those seats were mostly sold before the season started. Same with the Green Bay game. Have you noticed how the scalping market has noticeably changed outside the stadium?

I was surprised by the Viking turnout as well. Packers, Steeler, Redskins and of course Cowboy fans seemingly are everywhere. You could name your price at the Jaguar game. We struck gold with Cam. Before the draft no one believed there was a player worthy of the 1st overall pick, hell I believed it. I was hoping to trade back, but now I wouldn't trade Newton for Suh(a much better DT than Dareus).

 

It's nice that your family seems to have financial means, since they can help support someone with your mental capacity. But no, the point isn't the same at all when you change the equation from PSLs to tickets. Tickets require convincing a sizable number of people each season that your product is worth purchasing. PSLs compel those people to buy in whether they think it will be a compelling product or not, as they don't want to give up the thousands they already invested. And as for "asses in the seats," please let me know when BoA has ceased being one of the absolute worst environments for a football game in the NFL. The crowd is usually so pathetic (in part because ushers warn people who stand and/or cheer loudly) that I completely stopped going.

Not at all. Cam has piled up yardage, yes, but I already made the point about how casual football fans don't know enough to tell the difference between yardage and success. I'm absolutely not ruling out the notion that Newton will become the type of very good QB who consistently helps his team win games as opposed to the kind that just piles up fantasy football numbers, but he's not there yet.

That's because you're mentally deficient. You already proved that by saying "in 10 years he could do for this franchise as much as Manning has done for the Colts, Brady for the Patriots, or Farve for the Packers." Saying that Newton is already more valuable to a team than Suh is incredibly stupid. Suh is one of the game's absolute elite players. Newton isn't. Maybe he will be someday, but right now that's not the case.
