Georgia quarterback commits to Tar Heels
By Bill Cole, Winston-Salem Journal Reporter

North Carolina's football program received a commitment from Michael Rozier, a strong-armed, left-handed quarterback from Stockbridge, Ga., yesterday.

Rozier is a 6-5, 210-pound senior at Henry County High School in McDonough, Ga., about 30 miles south of Atlanta, where he plays for his father, Mike.

Michael Rozier is also a promising pitcher and the desire to play baseball in college helped him decide on North Carolina. He also received football offers from Auburn and Mississippi State, but his father said that those schools were reluctant to allow his son to play baseball but that UNC was not.

'He wants to play football (foremost) in college,' Coach Rozier said. 'He loves football. He's going to North Carolina to be a football player.'

Rozier is UNC's eighth commitment and its second from out of state.

Rozier is in his fourth season in the Henry County program and has been the starting quarterback since early in his freshman year. Henry County has played one game this season, and Rozier completed 14 of 24 passes for 170 yards in a 15-14 loss.

As a junior, Rozier completed 117 of 181 passes for 1,600 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was intercepted seven times. He scored one rushing touchdown. Mike Rozier said that his son is a pro-style quarterback.

'He's not going to Michael Vick you,' he said. 'He's a pure pocket-type passing quarterback. He's kind of like Simms (Chris, a former quarterback at Texas) and Greene (David, the quarterback at Georgia). He's probably got a stronger arm than they have, but he still has to develop his mentality about the college game.'

Rozier's pitches have been clocked above 90 mph. Although the college-baseball season conflicts with football's spring practice, Rozier said that his son should not miss too many practices because he will pitch only once every four to five days. He will be able to practice football the other days.

Well, let's hope he's more like this.

Wonder if his dad is the Mike Rozier that played at Nebraska.

You really are an idiot. Why would anybody go to UNC?

    - Some of the best football facilities in the nation
    - Chance to play in what will be one of the best conferences in the nation
    - Chance to be part of the resurgence in Carolina football
    - Consistently good baseball program - in what will now be the best baseball conference in the nation
    - Great university
    - Great town
    - Great talent

That's off the top of my head.

Remember that when and if you ever get a team. Having no wins and no program to start with? It could be 10 years before you ever win a game.
