Third round I'd be more than happy with him. Second if we had to, I guess. He's a unique player.

tenth pick would get us, you'd hope, one of the top three receivers. This says we wouldn't, which is troubling. I love Woods as a second receiver but I don't feel he's a first round guy - late second right now. I like him over Jacobs and Gage but those two will probably go higher. Going with a TE in the second and Lotentzen in the third wouldn't be bad, giving us two distinct styles of QB to go behind a vet, and two young playmakers to put in their future vision.

  2. I like palmer also but I would like to see us get a wr the first round. Don't forget that fa is out there and boston/johnson/price and engram are out there for fa next year. Boston will cost a little but maybe a little less sice he had to have surgery. Brooks is supposed to be a fa next year with batch/plummer and king. Maybe I'm not thrilled about the others behind brooks but a fa vet would help or give the young qb's we have next year time to develop or have them step up to take over. I beleive it takes about 2 or 3 years for a qb to get the reads on the defenses and such down. Yes, we could use some ol help but I would start about the 4th round. Third round I think we should get a te/cb. Some te's for fa next year are: hall(nos)/davis(gb). Another idea might be to try to get o.gary from denver to secure that we don't have the same problem as this year at rb incase foster doesn't work out. DT's on fa next year for depth thornton(tt)/hunt(gb) or also on lb spikes(brns)/peterson(ind)/phillips(ne). Yeah spikes might cost a little but then lb would be locked for a while and we wouldn't be dropped off to much if another lb gets injured. These are just some ideas. I mean it would be real nice if we could draft lloyd or johnson first round or second round paige or jacobs or woods but there are some sleepers out there that people may not know about. For instance burleson (nev), tolver(san diego st), curtis (utah st), orr (wisconson), gabriel (fl st), gardner(fl st), peterson(nc st), ward (ca), hoag(gustuvus adolphus college div3), boldin (fl st), johnson (va tech). These are some ideas I was kicking around so let me know what you guys think.;)

Boldin wouldn't be terrible. Arnaz Battle, McMullen, there's good WR depth in this draft. But the difference between Johnson at 3rd best and the next couple is a big drop. I'm really not high on Jacobs or Lloyd as first rounders, which is where they'd go, and at our spot they'd be reaches.
Engram as a FA wouldn't be bad, I'd rather have Gadsden. Aaron Brooks re-signed, so he won't be out there.

Hunt at DT would be starting, it's not hard to cut Buckner after the year but he's been playing far too well to suggest it. We'll play him through his contract and hopefully draft some OK depth

    Carson Palmer with a great day today-22-32-317 4td's 0 int's
With a good showing for the scouts he may end up a top 5 or 10 pick. I've been wanting to get him in 2nd round all season but he's just getting better and better and I think his stock is soaring right now.

Palmer may be rising at just the right time. If he keeps rising, I will have zero problems looking at that direction.

    Mags, I'd rather not know.

I kinda agree. There is about 5 or 6 qb's all pretty equal in talent. Surely one will be around 2nd round because I dont think any of them are worth a 1st rd pick. Unless we can Leftwich, MAYBE Manning. Manning has played pretty bad for the last month but I think the lack of talent around him is seriously hurting him. Plus Cutcliffe has turned into a complete coaching moron. Charles Rogers is my choice. I might even consider Witten from UT. He is a stud.

Should Charles Rodgers fall, and we are lucky enough to grab a rook with good measurables and is developed enough to work with later then that would be grand. Charles Rodgers is probably the best player in the draft regardless of position.

It's too early to tell. We don't even know where we are drafting yet, and guys like Palmer could shoot up past our first round spot, or could fall to the second round. All depedns on how he plays here on out, and his post season workouts. Right now he's looking good though.

Right now I have it Rogers, then Leftwich, then Johnson and Williams. That's my top four right now. Getting any one of thouse four would be great. The other two receivers seem more likely to be there for us, but no guarantees. I think Bear's right, Witten might be the way to go. Witten to me is more Bavaro than Shockey. Bavaro and Shockey are both Giants, and TEs, and that's as far as it goes. Totally different players.
