He had a terrible night. He's an odd one to figure out, he'll look great one week, and fall apart on his mechanics the next. He DOES have an arm, just didn't show it.

It's a long time till draft day.

I must agree with you guys. Ragone looked bad last night. Very bad. The gap between Leftwich, Manning and the rest of the QB prospects is HUGE ATP. It just isn't even close. Leftwich would be a MAJOR addition to this team and if I were the Panthers brass I would do whatever it takes to get him (unless Manning comes out).

This draft is NOT going to be deep IMO. Adding the fact that the strongest position is WR, a position not viewed as safe in the top 5 usually - this draft is a risky one.

To me - I would trade my entire draft if need be to get Leftwich. This team would be better off in two years with 1 great player - than with a lot of mediocre guys. Just my opinion though.

Go get Byron Leftwich and get the other positions in FA.

    That's just never smart.

A trade like San Diego/Atlanta would be smart if we were in the top 6 or so. But never a Williams type deal, it ruins your depth, and our is already bad. Not with guys like Palmer out there.

I would not feel great about placing my tent totally in Palmer's camp just yet. I seriously question his leadership skills not to mention his field vision and ability to read defenses. I admit he is improving and throws a beautiful ball - but he isn't the savior by any stretch.

Leftwich would give us a legitimate building block on offense. In a draft like this (weak) - I think it may be a good move. We can pick up lower priced FA veterans to fill the depth holes IMO.

Byron Leftwich is not near the player Michael Vick is to even consider trying to pull off a SD/ATL type deal. BL is damn sure not worth trading the entire draft.

    Agree, bear.

I don't see Leftwitch as that much better. He's got his own issues which will have to be corrected (footwork), and he doesn't have mind blowing measurables. He's tops, and I wouldn't pass, but I don't see him as a can't miss guy either.

He's got the arm and puts air under his throws. It's a very odd combination, he's got more than he shows, you're right. I forgot he was that big but

Leftwich is the best QB in the draft, I'd be damn happy to have him. But if it's trade up and get him, or even draft Ragone straight up versus waiting till the second? nah.

McFly, yes, Lloyd's one of the top three seniors, but in a class dominated by underclass.

I don't see the need to compare the two. But sense you brought it up, if your going to tell me that Michael Vick was the passer that Leftwich is coming out of college - I will wave your freak'n ass. Leftwich is a MUCH BETTER passer than Vick even right now. I don't like intending that people don't know what the hell they are talkin about but some statements here are irrelevent and ridiculous. We are talking about a franchise QB - which we need - and those don't grow on trees. Sometimes you have to give up something to get something. Just my opinion though - but if Leftwich becomes a pro bowl QB - he possibly would be worth the guys we can get at mid-round level picks. I wouldn't offer the whole draft (maybe keep the second) but wouldn't break my heart if if cost that.

Oh and questioning Leftwich's measurables is laughable. What DOESN'T the guy have and do well???? Don't say run like Vick or you'll be waved again!

You would rather have Leftwich over Vick? Do you work for the Panther's?
