After beating Elon 24-7, Furman moved up from #8 to #7 in the Sports Network I-AA pole. This was Elon's first game in the Southern Conference as a conference member, and Furman welcomed them in style to arguably the toughest I-AA conference. the So. Con. has four teams currently ranked in the top 25: Georgia Southern at #2, Furman at #7, Appalachian State at #11, and Wofford at #25.

Furman showed some spectacular plays in its defeat of Elon. Making his first start QB Bo Moore made two long touchdown passes of 41 yards to Brian Bratton and 33 yards to Brian Stone. Furman really showed some balls when on the 33 yarder because it was thrown on 4th and 16, prior to which they only held a 10-point lead.

Furman rolled up 463 yards in total offense to Elon’s 263 and limited the Phoenix to only 56 yards and one first down in the second half.

they'll be 2-0 if Clemson plays like they did last week.

I bet Furman tries to confuse Clemson with this:

    http://greenvilleonline.com/news/sports/2003/09/01/2003090113334.htm

Towards the bottom, it talks about Bo Moore, Furman's QB also having experience as a punter:

I can see Clemson burning a time out, or worse getting confused and either giving up a first down or getting pinned back deep after a punt.

I'll have to look that up, I don't remember. However, Bobby Lamb, the current Head Coach was a player back then (QB). Here's an article about his remembering that time when Furman beat South Carolina, NC State and Georgia Tech:

as the article mentions, Lamb was also an assistant coach when Furman beat UNC in 1999.

BTW, the coach then, Bobby Johnson, is now the head coach of Vanderbilt, who gave Mississippi a run for their money this weekend (this is his 2nd year at Vandy).
