UNI is pretty good in basketball too. I think that's where Kurt Warner went to school, and I ran into some people wearing UNI stuff while on vacation at the Grand Canyon. Hrm, weird, but hopefully they get their ass beat in the championship game.

UNI gets more local TV action than Iowa State, so yes I have seen them 3-4 times. They really don't have ANY superstar players other than the RB (name escapes me at the moment) that transfered in from Nebraska. Little shifty fucker, he just makes the most amazing moves and has excellent vision with a little pop...kind of reminds you of Dunn a little.
Overall, UNI is short for UNITY like they said during last nights game. These guys play together and the coaching staff is very good at locating a teams weakness and attacking it with reckless abandon. Last night it was Texas State's coverage and UNI had three one play TD drives.
If Soph QB Eric Saunders matures physically, he could be another Warner type player at the next level...BIG if. Right now, he is accurate and efficient but doesn't have a huge arm. Despite a lack of arm strength, he still puts the ball where it needs to be on the long ball he just tends to throw the "go get it" away from the defender and the WR will often have to adjust. He spreads the ball around VERY well.
Defensively, they are not at all flashy, a real blue collar group of hard hitters and fundamentally sound tacklers.
The one knock I would put on the Panthers is that they tend to jump out early, then go stale. Which they did against both New Hampshire and TSU.

My lil sister is a Sr at UNI this year, but I have always liked them. When Daryl Mudra (former Florida State HC) was there in the late 70's and 80's, I really wanted to play for him and corresponded with them, but Mudra retired and I didn't get much warmth from the new staff.

ankle injury on a tackle. He was walking but limping - looked like he could maybe play if they have to have him

I doubt they can win without him. I wish I had gone to this one.
