I love Mellow Mushroom because of their crusts -- buttery. But if the choice is between the two you listed, I'll take Fuel.

I hope that means it's good

If you go to Fuel make sure its the one on South Blvd near Putt's. They have a brick oven while most of them have conveyor belts that suck ass.

Somebody needs to burn the Mellow Mushroom down in NODA. It's embarassing how bad it is.

    Anzi's in Stonecrest...Ballantyne
Luigi's off of S. Tryon near 485...in the Wal Mart/Lowes thing there is pretty fucking solid too. Family owned/operated joints have the best pies IMO.

Yes, Portofino's is terrific. And it really is amazing how much better the Fuel on South Blvd. is. Does the brick oven really make that big of a difference?

Even the beer sucks at Mellow Mushroom, except for the Old English.

I went to Portfino's tonight, I'm about to tear into some leftovers.

I think the oven makes all the differance in the world. Mellow Mushroom has the abillity to be good but it's just too inconsistant. The one in Boone was better than any I've been to here and the one on N. Davidson has the worst staff you can possibly imagine. The only reason I ever go is on random nights for a few beers and now they started closing at 10. Basically there is no bar in the hood that used to have two of the best you could hope for.
