From what I've read everyone dreads going there, and it's not because of the basketball team.

Well, it is in the middle of nowhere right? Not an easy place to get to. Strange things happen in places like that. ;)

Our best outside shooter has a cast on his thumb. Sad but true.

If Davidson plays well, they may run us off of our home floor. Sad but true.

not at all. It's basically located between the city of Olean and the village of Allegany, right off the Southern Tier Expressway. Very easy to find. I'll take pics of our buck-toothed bowlegged cheerleaders at Monday's Central Connecticut State game and post 'em.

They will backdoor cut us to death. And the KO punch will be a hot shooting night from Winters.

There's something we do on defense that i don't understand but it bugs the hell out of me - when we play a 2-3, our 3 big guys line up a good 2-4 feet out in front of the rim, leaving a huge backdoor/baseline alley to make cuts in. Against a team that cant shoot like Portland, this made no sense to me - play back some and make them shoot in front of you instead of giving up that entire area... I know Davidson shoots better, but I still dont wanna see us doing that.

Meanwhile, they will continue to pick on our weakest guard, especially in man. Last year it was the slow footed Plavich, this year, Leemire will get double picked/screened to death. Portland ran every screen at him, and he's so small that he has trouble fighting through them.

They ran one simple play - a double screen out near the "upper corner" of the arc that worked so well that it made me wanna cry. It was so simple - line up your two slow footed big white guys in a double screen, run your fast little runt guard behind it - either he gets free for the jumper (twice), or if the guard tailing busts through or around (leemire), the guard cuts to the basket from near the top of the lane, where he's fed a simple bounce pass, in stride, and scores easily. They abused us with crap like that and Davidson is much better at it. Doesn't take superior athletes to run either.

rolf. Olean is cosmopolitan compared to most southern towns its size and proximity to large cities. not knocking the south, just sayin'.
