Fucking Nasty...

For the third time this year, the Mecklenburg health inspectors have closed a Charlotte restaurant for health code violations.

The KFC/A&W at 8950 S. Tryon St. was shut down after receiving a 68 score for violations that included widespread filth, storage of food at hazardous temperatures and live roaches in the dining room.

"Any facility that scores below a 70 is automatically closed, no ifs, ands or buts," said Lynn Lathan, health inspections supervisor. "In this case, we had serious, ongoing violations that were not corrected."

The restaurant's troubles began in March, she said, when it received a 79.5 rating. It requested a reinspection, which bumped the score up to 90. However, things worsened Nov. 3 when it received a 77.5 score.

"They asked for another reinspection, and on Nov. 19, the inspector found the same sort of things still in violation," says Lathan.

Someone who answered the phone at the KFC on Wednesday said they hoped to reopen as early as today.

Lathan said the restaurant has already made a request for reinspection. Should it pass, a permit would be issued immediately, and it could reopen, she said.
