Any residual damage to the finger or is it all gone now?

My middle joint looks like there's a marble in it and the finger is too swollen to bend, but it doesn't hurt as much as it did and it feels like I'm going to be able to bend and control it eventually. I taped it up and had no real problems going hard at Jiu Jitsu last night, so hopefully just a matter of time. Thanks for asking!

When I first started in karate I saw a guy trying to break a board and hit with the pinky knuckle first. It drove it about a third of the way back down his hand. It was really nasty. I guess that is why I never cared to get into breaking.

If I were you I would have it checked out. That is the sort of thing that can cause you a lot of problems later on if it heals wrong. Arthritis could be bad when you are older. Your hands are fairly delicate and easily damaged. A lot of people do not realize this but a punch will do more damage to your hand than the target if you do not do it correctly.

Tape it up and go. You will now hit that finger everytime you try and do something regular in your life though - guaranteed.

x-ray negative. Still really crazy looking and messed up so I'm heading to orthopedic tomorrow. If this turns out to be nothing, I'm never going to the doctor for anything again.

And it's a partially torn collateral ligament, no surgery required! He said it's gonna hurt 4-6 months, but basically just to tape it up good and be careful not to do anything that's gonna finish the tear. He gave me some tape for it that's supposed to reduce swelling. I'm curious to see if it does anything noticeable.
