Interesting logic D, I think we'll see more of these plays and I don't think it's bad that we used them today. It's all about timing and we used them at the right times. We were hitting good yards on the sweep with regularity, then they started to sniff it out. So, we change it up with the reverse. Same look as the sweep initially, then you get over persuit and hope that the backside DE has pretty much quit on the play or started up field in pursuit.
In this case the DE stayed home but wasn't at all ready for the reverse, it caught them on their heals.
As for the FF, it wasn't all that long ago that teams regularly used it in their weekly gameplan. Hennings is old school, he likes to use what works until it don't work...then he uses it to make something else work, like the FF or reverse.

Well, I don't think the Ravens are as bad as an offensive team as some make them out. They are not explosive, and don't have the talent at wideout, but they've got a good run blocking line, a good back, and as we saw, an accurate QB should you give him time. We didn't give him time.

I feel good about our defense. I feel good about Rucker making plays against the best Left Tackle in football. And about Peppers and Morgan being in on the play that won the game.

There's something to feel good about there.

Ray Lewis aside, they aren't a great defensive squad. Too small upfront to run the 3-4, they need a nose. Take out those penalties, and we were really starting to run the ball against them. I don't think their going to scare a lot of people.

You know me better than that Chip. I'm not going to become a homer who blasts the "experts" with emphasis on the quotations for saying we don't have talent or that we shouldn't win much. It's not that I have a problem with people feeling disdain for people who get paid to tell you your team sucks, but they do have a leg to stand on when they say we suck.
I stuck with 6-10 and I'm sticking with 6-10. If there's more than that, that's great. I enjoyed the win, but that doesn't mean I can tapdance myself into thinking we're good yet.

Analyze it all you want guys, I personally feel better than any Monday I can remember. Our defense looks good and we took the game at the end - instead of giving it away. :D

Damn, does Fox look like a genius now - starting Peete. No turnovers and good defense = close games and possible wins.

Now, lets follow it up with the same receipe and see what happens.

It will be hard to win games with only 10 points on the board.

I AM NOT bitching, just pointing out a concern. 10 points ain't gonna cut it 90% of the time.

I think Foster will be something if he can stay healthy and hold onto the ball. I loved watching Hoover move those chains. Just loved watching us run. Run. Run Run.

Those penalties seem to hurt more when you're hitting 4 yards per down. Get slapped with a false start or illegal formation for 5 yards, it's a fucking drive killer. That's really my ONLY complaint. If that hadn't happened, we'd have scored more points.

Please GOD, let us beat Detroit.

The Falcons look frighteningly good, don't they? Buc ball is STILL Buc ball, and Mcallister is strong. Gonna be a run the ball stop the run division, and I'm glad Foster should be back in time for the 10/20 game against the Falcons.

yep. 10 points and only a couple good drives, two of which used trick plays to get half their yardage, that's not enough. That's a legit concern. Keeping the Ravens to 7 points given the number of completions we let them have isn't bad but we did play a lot of field position ball - never quite seen as many 3rd down runs as this game. OK, heard. Fuckers. Still, third down sweeps to set up better punting yardage isn't offensive output to me.

Detroit's corners aren't as good but their line's better. I expect that with lesser speed, we'll be able to set some screen stuff up.

good point, chip, and nice shot, mags!

the prob with my vike buds is this more realistic attitude. we dont have a more realitic view of our team. the vikes suck too. we just cant seem to accept that fact, and more importantly, fix the problems! if only my team and fanmates can accept some hard facts, fix what ails us, (our D needs to be addressed!) perhaps we will be less disappointed come january, and might have a better mind frame (and better team) this season and the next.

i know you are talking about your team, mags, i just related your post to mine.

    great posts, all!
