When you account for 512 yards in one game, yes. And with Vince Young officially out of the running after today's game, there won't be any suspense this year. Heisman, thy name is Bush.

Bush had it before today. Any other year and Young walks away with it.

Dude, don't be an ass. I was being kind not to rip you for the obvious stupidity of your statement. There have been a few great Heisman winners at RB (Barry Sanders), and certainly they've been better than the QBs, but on the whole they've still been a very disappointing group. Seriously, why couldn't you just accept your mistake instead of lashing out when I was letting your dumb ass off easily? And yes, Salaam had various injuries that cut his career short, but he was not good when healthy either.

You really are a piece of work. The facts simply don't support your position. Heinsman winners that are RB's have a pretty damn good record in the pros. There realy aren't too many busts on this list going back to 1973. How many of these guys are in the HOF?

    1999 Ron Dayne Wisconsin RB
    1998 Ricky Williams Texas RB
1995 Eddie George Ohio State RB
    1994 Rashaan Salaam Colorado RB
1988 Barry Sanders Oklahoma State RB
    1985 Bo Jackson Auburn RB
    1983 Mike Rozier Nebraska RB
    1982 Herschel Walker Georgia RB
1981 Marcus Allen Southern California RB
1980 George Rogers South Carolina RB
1979 Charles White Southern California RB
    1978 Billy Sims Oklahoma RB
    1977 Earl Campbell Texas RB
    1976 Tony Dorsett Pittsburgh RB
1975 Archie Griffin Ohio State RB
1974 Archie Griffin Ohio State RB
1973 John Cappelletti Penn State RB

1999 Ron Dayne Wisconsin RB - BUST
1998 Ricky Williams Texas RB - mixed results, but pretty good
1995 Eddie George Ohio State RB - tailed off at the end, but very good
1994 Rashaan Salaam Colorado RB - BUST
1988 Barry Sanders Oklahoma State RB - One of the greatest ever
1985 Bo Jackson Auburn RB - good, but never had a single healthy season (bust?)
1983 Mike Rozier Nebraska RB - BUST (although he had one decent season in '88)
1982 Herschel Walker Georgia RB - only two good years as a pro
1981 Marcus Allen Southern California RB - Very, very good
1980 George Rogers South Carolina RB - Short career, but good
1979 Charles White Southern California RB - BUST
1978 Billy Sims Oklahoma RB - Short career, but good
1977 Earl Campbell Texas RB - Very, very good
1976 Tony Dorsett Pittsburgh RB - Very, very good
1975 Archie Griffin Ohio State RB - BUST
1974 Archie Griffin Ohio State RB - see above
1973 John Cappelletti Penn State RB - BUST

So yeah, the list is decent once you start getting into that '76 - '81 range, but there have still been about as many busts as quality players. But seriously dude, you could at least bother to quickly look up their numbers before continuing to insist that Heisman RBs haven't historically been a disappointment (if not nearly as bad as the QBs).

I wonder if collin still thinks Reggie Bush is overrated and not worthy of being considered a top Heisman candidate. The UCLA game, and Young's poor performance against A&M a week earlier, put Bush clearly in the driver's seat. IMHMFO anyway. :thud:

Drew Olsen, one of the players this genius said was better than Bush, went 14-32 for 146 yards with 1 TD.

No, not anymore. He had absolutely huge games down the stretch, but you can't deny (well you can, but a thoughtful person can't) that Bush had some pretty mediocre games through the middle stretch of the season. Without ND, FSU, and UCLA then he shouldn't win the Heisman, but those games do count and he was incredibly special in each. He won it fair and square, which makes me feel less bad about ESPN basically giving it to him before he had earned it.

And as for Drew Olson, he had a bad day. It's not as if Bush didn't have any bad days this season, Olson's just happened to be in his team's biggest game of the season. Check his overall season numbers and see how ridiculous they are. They're better than Matt Leinart's either last season or this season.
