N-C-A-A backs down on use of Seminoles


TALLAHASSEE (AP) - The N-C-A-A will allow Florida State to use
its Seminoles nickname in post-season play. That removes the school
from a list of schools who's Native American nicknames were
restricted by the N-C-A-A in a controversial move earlier this
month.
Florida State officials threatened to sue.
The N-C-A-A says allowing Florida State to use the Seminoles
nickname recognizes the relationship the school has enjoyed with
the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The tribe supports the use of the
nickname and helps the university with its celebration of the
Seminole culture.

 

Well now that they are being selective in applying the rule it opens them up to a ton of lawsuits.

 

I'm still trying to figure out how Illinois, N or S Dakota, Utah, etc. can play if they have their state name on the front of their jersey.

 

1-0 is a good start to the season.
