now that the season is over...im guessing you Panther fans are eyeing up our (the Steelers) free agents in an attempt to somehow bring home a superbowl to Charlotte. in the past we've given you Kevin Greene, that one coach...what was his name?...and probably a few others. now, who you want???

    :woohoo:

Want and afford are two separate things. We have what 39 of 52 under contract for next year yet we are currently 1 million over cap? Renegotiate and cuts are in order.

    My preference are to resign:
    • McCree
    • Witherspoon
    • Foster

or sign a veteran WR like Joe Jerivisious (sp) or Moulds
a OL that can play center and guard
a reasonable price RB with incentives played into contract

I'd think that Seattle would want to retain Joey-J, though it could depend on Alexander. Moulds will probably want to be the #1 guy. Don't want to overpay him. Besides, I don't see WR being a position that we seriously attack in free agency, even if Proehl does retire.

I could see Randel-El here, at a reasonable price of course,

I like Randel-El, but having Smitty and Randel-El as your two starters ins't exactly a good idea.

Randle-El hasn't really produced a ton. He's got the playmaking and RAC, and he's a return man, but it's basically reproducing Smitty at a lesser level. I'd take him, but as weird as it logically would sound, winning that SB increases demand, and therefore price, for him. Plus, the Steve Smith factor means a few teams will want to use R-E the way we use Smitty to create opportunities for their other receiver.

Steelers? none thanks. I saw a few Seahawks I might like, Hutchinson for example. other then that, resign McCree, Witherspoon and get me a decent RB.

    Jurevicious.

I know there are others out there, but he's the only one I really want to have here. Of ours, I'd rather have 'Spoon back than Foster, but honestly, I won't be heartbroken if we lose him. Morgan, Seward, and Davis as our starting three appeals to me. If we re-sign 'Spoon, that leaves Davis to struggle some more at SS. I want him to start and succeed, and I don't think he's got the mind to do that at safety.
