According to the Gaston Gazette Fox wants a vet to backup Weinke. There are some high dollar types out there and some scrubs also. Who do you think we should go after?
Keep in mind some of these guys are out of our price range without some serious cuts being made. The list is based who's out there (except Tony Banks and Scott Mitchell) and includes Bledsoe because of the trade rumors surrounding him at this point.

According to Pat Yasinkas, Jeff Blake, Tony Banks, and Gus Frerrote (sp) fit Fox's 'profile' of a backup quarterback. I think Pat is full of shit (and if Fox said those guys fit the profile, he's full of shit, too). Banks was a starter last year and Blake thinks he's a starter. Gus ought to be a starter for someone, but he's seemed to be content to be a backup in Denver. I'm going with Dave Brown.

Scratch Difler, he re-signed with Seattle. MM, no thanks to Dave Brown, he stinks.

I don't like him either. He looked like the only backup on the list, though.

I'm in the resign harbaugh gang. Seems weinke is effective enough to get the job done and there is too much to do this training camp without the head coach having to deal with head butting at quaterback because half the team wants this guy or that guy. Given that a new system is being introduced the starting guy needs to be a given up front and the potential for back stabbing be eleminated. I'm just hoping that the offense will be designed around the talent rather than the talent shoe horned into the offense.

Weinke needs help, all kinds. I hope they got somebody working with him this offseason. I think we need to keep Harbaugh AND sign another Vet. This shit about Weinke not being able to throw to his left that came out last year is a WTF. Like that immediately cuts the field in half for him and lets the Def. secondary have a field day. Might as well have a young Deon playing every game against us. So why did we pick W. anyway.

Kent Graham is an option as a veteran backup only.

I think not being able to throw to his left is more a function of georges no run offense. When you're about to be muckled you throw where you're most accurate and for a lefty that's to the right. If they run a little it would put a little pressure on the dbacks and give weinke a little more time to look at the field before dumping the ball. NE making those double reverses go for 10+ yards gives some kind of idea of what kind of backfield it takes to get to the superbowl, we ain't got nothing like that and until we do Weinke will never get the chance to throw to his left so the issued is moot.

Make Harbaugh our assistant QB Coach

I think they should move Harbaugh to the coaching staff, and bring in a veteran QB under 38.

Of course the beautiful thing would be to offer Beurlein a chance to come back, for the veteran minimum, and back up Weinke for this organization.

Of course he's injury prone, and probably pretty miffed at the front office boys.

I like about half the names on the list......it all depends who will come cheapest.

Two names I don't want: Tony Banks and Jeff George. Both losers who bring bad morale.
