capwise we were hamstrung by that this past year, too. Plenty of guys you could've cut that would've given real relief.

We're gonna spend "x" on the QB position no matter what, next year we'll just be spending most of it on the backup. I hope he's the backup, if here.

I'm okay with Fox's coaching, on the whole. The personnel decisions have chapped my ass the last couple of years, on draft day and otherwise. But so much of this is interdependent; the Peppers decisions influenced the Jake restructure, and the lack of attention to ST gives Crossman an excuse, etc. etc.

Report: Panthers coach, GM can return in 2010; Smith on IR

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Injury-riddled and out of the playoff race before December, the Carolina Panthers seemed certain to have their first double-digit loss season under coach John Fox.

Instead, they're playing their best football of the season, just in time to perhaps mean the embattled Fox will return in 2010.

A day after the Panthers (7-8) routed the New York Giants for their third win in four games, the Charlotte Observer reported Fox and general manager Marty Hurney will be "offered the opportunity to return next season" by owner Jerry Richardson.

That's been the plan since day 1.

We've been WINNING with a patched up team with eleven on IR. I never want to hear that were can't play well because of injuries again. Hell, keep the current starters and dump the rest. Those guys want to play.

I can really only think of a couple of guys who are hurt that wouldn't make us better by being on the field.

    One biggie.

Defense was pretty banged up to start the season...

We're also a lot better off now than when seifert left, players and cap...

Fox has done an outstanding job IMO

The team we have on the field right now could make the playoffs. Add Jordan Gross, Jeff Otah, Deangelo Williams and Thomas Davis back in to the mix and it should be pretty solid even if Peppers is gone.

Do something at DT and WR and it could be elite.
