I think other teams are going to be real surprised at how well our line has improved.

Our D-line? That's all up to Peppers. Otherwise, its the same crew, with the exception of Burton who'll be a reserve.

Does anybody know if Fox 'rotates' the line the way that Seifert did?

Wow, a day off, that's cool. I guess a coach would have to be really happy about how they practiced to give them a day off, extremly happy to give it to a 1-15 team. Ofcourse this sets up something he may pull later in the season, or maybe even camp. Instead of a day off, he could do the opposite if he's not pleased, and that would send a strong message as well.

Looks like Buckner gets the start over Jenkins.

i had noted that comment about buckner. wonder if it does mean he's ahead of jenkins. i thought jenk showed a lot of flash early last season before fading. was expecting him to make a big splash this year as he continued to beef up and learned to take better care of himself. i wonder jenks will end up being a disappointment.

rather old write-up so you probably have seen but i just read it today. profootballtalk (jason smith) has us winning 3 games and montgomery as our 3rd down back. he loves Foster (a steal) and Peppers (as dominate as Sapp or maybe even Taylor). doesn't seem to think much of our QB -- or at least that was my read.

In other words, he likes hype and stats, and doesn't know much about our team.

As far as Buckner, I wouldn't be totally surprised to see him start and have the team make Jenkins earn a starting spot back. He didn't keep a spot last year, but IMO he did play better as the year goes by.
Since I expect Gilbert gone after the year, I'm hoping Buckner goes as well and Jenkins will have earned his spot by then. That would allow us to go with Burton as an interim starter until the draft pick comes along.

In WP's interview with Rucker and WIlliams, they said no. Of course they'll be subs, but not wholesale like last year.

Mag, I'm sure that he doesn't know has much as most posters on this board about our team. But I didn't really see anything in the article to get caustic about unless you don't agree with the # of wins he is predicting. (or was your comment directed at me?) I could be mistaken, but I thought you were one of the posters cautioning that we weren't going to win many games -- so it must not be that you have a problem with.

I kinda like that he is more hyped about Peppers and Foster than most. Even our fans have remained cautious about predicting great things for Peppers. It's fun to get a little hyped for the team and draftees in preseason. Meat had me hyped already about Foster and this guy has me a little more hyped about Peppers (and I was already hyped). I also like that this guy sees Montgomery, a player that I've been championing, as our third down back. I didn't know if this would be a good role for him as the game I saw him he was the starter and was mostly pounding it up inside and looked very good in doing it. Do you know anything about him. Do you see him as our third down back? I think maybe I saw that Piper had him listed as third on his depth chart (but I didn't take that to necessarily mean that he would be the third down back). I've been thinking that maybe Foster would start and Smith would be the third down back, on the premise that Foster can beat out Smith for the starting position.

Jenkins played better as the year wore on last year? I thought he tailed off, at least in the middle of the season. Seems like I remember reading him admit to that. And my read was that he felt he hadn't been getting the rest and taking care of his body like a professional.

Jenkins got benched middle of the year or so, and after that, it kind of served as a wake up call. His best games were late in the year, production wise. I remember he made several plays vs the Saints in NO.
