    We made that mistake with Capers. Gave him a blank check, and had to pay him for years on end. We'd still be paying him, if the Texans hadn't picked him up.

    5 years is solid. Good long term investment, and means you don't have to keep doing extensions every couple years. He's earned a strong raise, and God willing, we won't have to shy away from guys like Weis (and can pay guys like O'Brien what they're worth) because they'd be approaching the salary of the HC.

    Agree. Long term, but not eternity. If things continue well, they'll extend him again somewhere in there.

    I think Fox will be older than Marv Levy before he's no longer with the Panther organization
