I was pondering the Foster pick, and remembering that NOBODY, no matter how much they disliked Foster, would've opted for Portis over Foster back in December.

Matter of fact, In Decmber all I really heard was bad stuff about Portis, certainly not that we should get him with our #34 overall.

Somehow, throughout the spring, my opinions of Portis changed. Why? He didn't do anything during that time. Is it the press? Were we thinking too much? Or did we 'realize' something that we failed to see in December?

I think it was hype, and I think Foster will prove the better pick.

Fear. Fear of a guy that has all the talent, but will drop the ball. Or get hurt.

Portis would have been "safe." Not as good of a runner, not as powerful, but he doesn't have the risk.

I admit to that. I would have taken Portis only because I viewed him as safer, not better.

I'm ignorant about Foster's injury history. What is it?

Relatively injury free this year. Nothing major I don't think, just getting dinged up here and there that causes him to miss some games. A hammy here, a sprain there.

I wonder if Dee Brown will come around.

Things are looking rough for him and Goings and Montgomery.

It's exciting to be addressing the run game.

I never fully bought into Portis as the back we needed. Just not that style player. Good player, but not our way of doing things. Having picked Foster suggests they have faith they can fix him, and then having the press on the fact that Skipper actually has been proactive in this is very encouraging.

If I'm not mistaken, it was this year he(Foster) played in a game with a broken hand and had 4 fumbles. The fumblitis was thrown out there without much mention of the broken hand. I'm real excited about our 1 and 2. They both have alot of critics and I think they have the attitude to let that fuel their fire.

I wanted Portis. I thought he was going to be the best available back for us, and I really wanted a RB. I just didn't want to get my hopes up for Foster. I don't think the 2 compare. Portis would have given us a good combination with Lamar, but with Foster, we have a feature back and a proven 1,000 yard rusher as a back-up.
