Wow! So we pay Foster like a top 10 back next year? Very interesting.

I'll go on record and say I don't like it. We'd have to be able to find a more durable back than Foster for the 5 million he'll make next year.

Is Hurney losing his GM midas touch?

    Didn't see that one coming.

Not the way I'd go, but maybe they figure Foster will see that the market for him may not be as big as he thought, particuarly this year with so many backs on the market, including some big name backs like Alexander, James, Lewis, Green, amung others.

Of course, there is a reason for that, but I digress.

I'd still pair him with another mid round back, like Mike Bell, Humes, maybe Addai if he drops like I think he may.

Historically, when a player is transitioned, is it common for another team to match that offer? And if it's matched, how often does the transitioned player actually leave?

In short: Does this assure Foster will be a Panther in 2006?

answering your question with a question:

What team makes him a better offer, considering his injury history?

I would say he will be back in 2006.
