Sonics end troubled relationship by waiving Forte
    The Associated Press

The Seattle SuperSonics waived reserve guard Joseph Forte on Wednesday, ending a troubled relationship for both sides.
Forte, who played at North Carolina from 1999-2001, was acquired by Seattle in a trade with Boston before last season. He played in just 17 games and averaged 1.7 points, often finding himself at odds with Sonics coach Nate McMillan, who played college basketball at N.C. State.

McMillan declined comment Tuesday, saying the situation was being handled by general manager Rick Sund. When Forte was released from Monday's practice, Sund characterized the move as a basketball decision by the coaching staff.

Forte made news last season over a locker room scuffle with center Jerome James, and by refusing to accept a request by Sonics management to go on the injured list, saying he wasn't injured.

Last summer, Forte was ordered to participate in a dispute settlement in a misdemeanor assault case in North Carolina. He also faces a court date later this month in Maryland on marijuana and handgun possession charges.

I smelt trouble when he went pro early. He is a man without an NBA position IMO. Can't play the point, can't guard 2s and too small for the 3. He was a great college player because he was versitle, but the NBA requires skills that fit a position. He isn't good enough to be versitile in the NBA and get away with it.

He should've stayed in college for 4 yrs.

Forte was a victim of poor advice, although he and Doh didn't see eye to eye either. You are never quite as good as your press clippings say. I wonder if he'll make the attempt to play oversees now.

Joe NEEDED a better coach... don't know if this is the chicken or the egg... either Forte's a shit and pissed Doh off and its continued in the NBA or Doh turned Forte into a shit by pissing him off and it continued into the NBA... one way or another he wasn't ready... had he waited he could have been made a polished PG by the time he graduated (possibly)
