Because pagans, Buddhists, Jews, etc. don't put up billboards and hold protests against abortion, homosexuality and premarital sex.

I honestly don't hate Christians or Christianity; but I am often offended by them, partly because of these reasons already mentioned.

Also: Pagans, Buddhists, Jews, etc. don't decry the fact that public schools don't start the day with their prayers. They don't knock on my door or hand out tracts to insult my beliefs & try to make me convert to their point of view. They don't form religio-political organizations to try to make my government & the general citizenry behave more in accordance with their religious views.

However, I also have to point out that there are plenty of non-Christians around who are irrationally anti-Christian on both a personal & an organizational level. Americans shouldn't be ashamed & deny the country's basically Christian heritage. While we don't want any government institutions endorsing or pushing a particular religious view, that shouldn't mean that religion or Christianity are dirty, unmentionable topics, either. Some people go ridiculously overboard in their zeal to remove any inkling of religion from every public venue.

For example, there's no reason a public school teacher shouldn't wear a cross pendant to work; or a star of David; or a pentagram. It's freaking personal jewelry, & nothing more. And I don't have a bit of problem with nativity scenes during the holiday season, any more than I'm bothered by decorated trees or Santa figures. We don't need to sanitize the entire public domain from any hint of tradition or belief or preference. People need to chill out & just show some mutual respect.
