I do not think gay people actively recruit straight people to become gay. That is a bit silly. I think if anything they may seek more acceptance for themselves and other gays which in turn removes some of the stigma associated with it. In the minds of some this process will lead to more people becoming gay since there will be fewer barriers to prevent it. I would take it in the same way you would a christian effort to prevent a strip club or liquor by the drink legislation from coming to an area. The less temptation they can allow the less people will partake in it.

Berating you or condemning you is not the way any christian should go about trying to spread the gospel to you. Many of the posts I have on here that are argumentative are done as a means to debate in the political realm. If I were attempting to share Christ with you I would not be abrassive. I am not so sure that the people you observed do not also have a politcal goal rather than a spiritual one.

It's all political Thelt. They don't know what being a Christian is all about. Granted, I'm not a believer in the religion, but I do know what one looks like when I see one. And I didn't see a single one there on Saturday. They started this fight in the permits office trying to stop the festival. When that failed due to First Amendment Rights, they proceeded to try to harrass, berate, and intimidate.

I am in no way defending their methods, but they have just as much right to express their opinion as anyone else.

I would guess that there are some well meaning people among them that have lost perspective. It is easy to get caught up in the "culture war" and lose sight of what you are really about. I imagine there are some leaders there that have replaced the goal of spreading the gospel with the goal of winning the culture war and they are leading the others astray.

Jesus came to save sinners and he has charged christians with sharing his message, not with getting sinners to sin less. If they got you to go straight it would not matter. Whether you go to heaven or hell is based on whether or not you accept Christ. How bad of a sinner you were before you were saved or how good and upright you were are of little consequence. "We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God". "All our righteousness is as filthy rags".

I agree with you but as a member (sort of) of the same religion they are part of I feel it necessary to point out how they have went wrong. They do not speak for me. They are however free to speak.
