I was not there and have no clue what went on. Do a google on "gay pride parae" and you will get some images that seem pretty offensive. I think people expect that sort of thing when they hear the words. It is unfortunate if you guys were blamed for the actions of others.

And yet, for some reason, that seems to never stop you or even slow you down.

Thelt, I wish OH HOW I WISH Charlotte were more like San Francisco or NYC. Or even Des Moines. But it's not. The gay people here are very conservative. I'm one of the outcasts because I'm not as conservative. Hell, there were even two gay friendly churches represented at pride. And the most skin seen was on guys with their shirts off. It was a warm day. Charlotte has a long way to go before it catches up to SF, NYC, or the other places where gay pride is really something special. Here, it's a chance to see others like you without a whole lot of hoopla. I mean, damn. I only saw three rainbow flags.

So you want to see Charlotte streets covered with the kind of stuff that goes on in San Fran? We do not allow straight people to have parades that include public lewdness and obscene material. There is no reason to allow gay people to do that either. Stuff like this is why you get so much flak. People think you want to parade down the street naked spanking a guy who looks like Mr. Slave from Southpark while a naked lesbian with a huge strapon dildo walks along beside you passing out flyers to kids on how to be gay. Saying you want Charlotte to be more like San Fran makes me wonder how off base that it is.

    Wow.

I wish Charlotte were more tolerant of gays like San Fran. That's what I want. Personally, I don't molest children or try to convert them. Again, you think about that a lot so you may want to question your own desires.

Not all gay people are "out there" like Rosie or "Mr. Slave", who by the way, is a stereotypical fictionalization of many personas. Some are simple regular folk. Guess you wouldn't know that unless you actually met a few. Instead, you base your opinion on what the MSM portrays via your television set. Even here, the gays are overly gay. Trust me, I'm not as obvious in real life as I'd have you believe.

I have a cousin who is gay. When I was about five and he was about eighteen he tried to get me to put his penis in my mouth. I did not do it but I almost did. He told me that I would never grow hair on my genitals unless I put a penis in my mouth and that I would not want to grow up and never have hair on it. His was exposed as he told me this. He almost had me convinced to do it but we were interupted by my grandmother. I told what had happened and thankfully I was never alone with him again.

Today he lives in another country and has a "normal" relationship with another man. As far as I know he is not now a pedophile.

You will have to excuse me if I slip up and say something that sounds like I believe all gay people are pedophiles.

All that being said I think gays should be tolerated and deserve to not be the victims of physical or verbal abuse. I think they have the right to live however they want to live and should not be forced to change. I do however oppose any public displays that flaunt sexuality. I would not want strippers and porn stars marching down mainstreet dancing and having sex where kids might see them and I definately do not want to see gay people doing that sort of thing as well. It is not about gay bashing it is about decentcy and keeping people from being exposed to lewd or obscene things in a public place. There are plenty of places where you can go and see or do anything you want in private. There is no reason it has to be done in public. You guys may not have been lewd or obscene but like I said before when I see the words "gay pride parade" lewd and obscene are the first things that jump into my mind.

So you don't like watching two straight people kiss, hold hands, or touch each other in a loving manner in public either? Or weddings. They ought to take that shit back to the cave.

I'm going to stay out of this thread from now on. Otherwise, I'll say things to Thelt that I shouldn't out of respect to R&S.

Oh, and sorry about your cousin. That was wrong I admit. But again, not everyone is like that.
