OK, it's not the Panthers, but Gastonia's semi-pro Gladiators open up this Saturday night at Ashbrook High School in Gastonia. For $5, it's the best deal around, and the football is played with an incredible passion. These guys can play. I've seen them practice, and they're no joke. Only one Offensive lineman is under 290 and the D-Line is just as big - and I'm not talking about a bunch of fat guys. I know you guys might beat me up on this, but it's worth a look if you love football like I do. Besides, the Hooters Girls will be there. Check out their website at http://www.eteams.com/gladiatorfootball/

Yeah, you're right, they do Brain. But I'm gonna see this one up close and personal and tape the Skins. Just something about being live and smelling the grass - plus it's a home opener and the talk of the town right now in Gastonia. I know a lot of the Gladiator guys, and they can not wait to lay some wood to some people.

Maybe you can pull out your old band uniform, math, and give them a halftime production. man, it will be just like old times for sure.

No, bunky. I gave up the ol' water buffalo hat and spats a long time ago.

Just FYI - not close, but oh my god were there some "decleaters"! Gladiators won 56-0. Each team dressed 50 guys and about 800 people showed up on a hot and humid night. Smallest Gladiator offensive lineman is 6'3" and 320 pounds!
