Um, it's not even 30 minutes from downtown Charlotte.

The Charlotte Knights downtown was the best decision. It will attract people that rarely ever attend professional baseball games. The after work crowds alone will support the stadium. Conventioneers with nothing to do can walk to the park, pay 10 bucks, drink beer, have a couple of hot dogs and sit back and relax for 3 hours. Families will be able to afford tickets and discover something they rarely see...downtown/uptown. It's great for downtown businesses, it's great for attracting conventions, it's arguably the best return of tax money on all 3 sports buildings and what a great thing to enjoy in the spring and summer nights with your kids or buddies or in SY's case, a cheating wife....outdooor baseball.

I agree. I was just arguing the point that Fort Mill isn't THAT far away, but its certainly not as convenient as downtown. I think the attendance numbers have more to do with the fact that they've consistently sucked ass ever since they affiliated with the Marlins a few years back.

Half an hour is still annoying, especially when you consider that much of the base would be located north of Charlotte, meaning it tacks on to an already existing drive.

I think being in Fort Mill is a big problem, but a bigger problem is that there is only one way in or out of the stadium. It's a nightmare trying to get in or out when more than about 5,000 people show up.

I live about 10 minutes from 485 and Fort Mill exit is about 10-15 minutes or so along 485 if you include traffic, and last I checked the stadium isn't right beside the exit ramp. Ft. Mill blows. Why have the Charlotte Knights play in a different state. If you go to a Knights Game there's like 1,000 people there. If I'm going to drive about 20 minutes at least give me a nice new park surrounded by other things in the actual city that the team is named after.
