All of a sudden Eddy Curry doesn't sound so bad.

The newspaper guy from Dallas says this deal is pretty much dead.

I wonder if that's because the Bobcats asked for talent back.

That Observer article is a mess, that sort of speculative journalism would have never been printed 15 years ago. How can you have a trade article about one of a team's best players and mention they may get Diop and Earl Watson in return? That makes no sense to the average fan, at least go into salary cap ramifications or how Felton could leave at the end of the year with no compensation.

Hopefully the Dallas guy has a better feel for the deal than Bonnell.

Serious question...do you really think Felton is one of the teams best players?

Being one of our top players is not exactly effusive praise but yeah he's one of our top four players, and the only one I'd want to move. I understand why they are trying to move him, I just don't understand moving him for a backup journeyman.

Even a Felton hater can't really defend a swap of him for Diop, what does that do for the Bobcats?

    On this team? Yes

On a really good team? No, he would be coming off the bench.

maybe that's the answer to why they would have to trade for another bench player

Diop imo isn't even a bench player. With that said on a good team Felton would be in the normal rotation off the bench, Diop would be the 11th or 12th man type player at best.

Felton is an NBA player and will find a home somewhere. Diop is eating his way out of the league and can't even get minutes with a team that needs a center worse than we do. Now, if this trade is all about salary cap space, that's fine. But nowhere in the article does it look like it benefits the team in that way, in fact it looks to me like we'd be worse off in salary (which I guess is why there was a mention of Earl Watson being thrown in.)

Like Felton or not, I just don't see how you can sell that trade to your fanbase as anything positive. Diop is playing about 1/3rd as effectively as Muhammed. Other than a brief playoff run about 3 years ago, I don't think he's done much of anything in the league.

That's funny the news about Curry though. Talk about a bad apple.
