I'll try to confirm this for you guys. My scheduling contact is out of the office today. I'll also say that #1 is most likely a crock of shit, also. ABC doesn't hand out squat as far as TV contracts for a game involving an ACC team in their home arena. I know how they are handled and that ain't it.

BV, trust me on this. That's the deal. PM me and we can compare notes.

Wake will be back in Charlotte in 07-08 for a game at the new arena.

Harry, ABC gets the rights from a company I'm very familiar with. I'm not saying there isn't a game, I'm just saying the TV/ABC part isn't quite right.

The facts of the deal were a bit skewed as I suspected but GAME ON!

Still don't know about #1 but Williams is returning to Wake.

    Link

Debra Williams drove from her Wake County home to Winston-Salem on Sunday, bearing news for Wake Forest's basketball coaches.

Williams' son Eric, the Deacons' 6-foot-9 center who said in April he wanted to leave school early for the NBA draft, had changed his mind and would return for his senior season.

"I saw (director of basketball operations Tim) Fuller and I yelled to him that I was here to register Eric (for classes)," said Debra Williams. "He said, `Tell me!'

"So I told him: `Eric's coming back.' "

Williams -- who as a junior averaged 16.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and was the ACC's field-goal percentage leader at 63 percent -- is attending the NBA's pre-draft camp in Chicago. Williams, who wasn't available Sunday, had said he would withdraw from the draft unless he was certain he would be a first-round pick.

Since Williams hadn't hired an agent, he had until June 21 to withdraw from the draft, which will be June 28 in New York.

Williams is one of several ACC players who announced they would leave school early for the NBA. Some -- including teammate Chris Paul and the North Carolina trio of Marvin Williams, Sean May and Raymond Felton -- have hired agents and are certain first-round picks.

The draft status of others, such as Williams, Duke's Shavlik Randolph, Georgia Tech's Jarrett Jack and Maryland's John Gilchrist, has been viewed as less certain. Gilchrist has hired an agent.

The Deacons were facing the prospect of playing without at least four of their top six players from last season's 27-6 team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Forwards Vytas Danelius and Jamaal Levy and guard Taron Downey have graduated, and Paul left early for the NBA.

Justin Gray, a shooting guard most of his career who will replace Paul at the point, is Wake's other returning starter.

"I think Eric's excited about coming back," said Wake Forest coach Skip Prosser. "He played well in Chicago, but at the end of the day, he knew that even if he wasn't going to be a first-round pick, he can certainly project to be one next year."
