The fucking movie...no doubt. Alien is #1 along with The Thing.

For comedy value alone I recommend some 70s - 80s classics like:

    The Burning
    Sleepaway Camp
    Phantasm
    House
    Maniac
    Night of the Demons
    Night of the Scarecrow
Night of the Living Dead remake 80
    Obviously...the DEAD trilogy...Night, Dawn, Day.
    Dead Alive
    CHUD
    Night of the Creeps
    Gargoyles
    The Deadly Spawn
    ReAnimator
    Pumkinhead
    Fright Night
    Happy Birthday to me
    Mothers day
    Slumber Party Masacre
and always entertaining: HBO: Tales from the Crypt: Seasons 1-7

    As far as new ones:
    Dawn of the Dead Remake
    Dead Snow
    Let me in
    Laid to Rest
    Imprint
    Or course...Zombieland
    Vacancy

    Also, everyone needs to appreciate:
Invisible Man OLD, Franky and Bride of Franky
    The Thing from anohter world
    War of the worlds
    Dracula
    KING KONG original (fucking great)

If you like Horror graphic novels:
    Eerrie archives
    Creepy archives
Borris Karloff Tales of Mystery Archives
    Obviously...EC Archives
    Witching Hour Archives
and last but not least...the BEST horror comic I've read
Twisted Tales...Pacific Comics ALL editions of this short running comic.

Goriest is not close...Dead Alive. Hiliariously gory.

Scariest is still original Texas Chainsaw as it is without question the most bizarre movie I've seen. Terrifing vibe in that one.
