Ok, i love Neil Diamond, too. Saw him in concert once.

    Sweet Caroline
    --Neil Diamond

Where it began, I can't begin to knowing
But then I know it's growing strong
    Was in the spring
    Then spring became the summer
Who'd have believed you'd come along

    Hands, touching hands
Reaching out, touching me, touching you

    Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
    I'd be inclined
    To believe they never would
    So good, so good

Look at the night and it don't seem so lonely
We filled it up with only two
    And when I hurt
    Hurting runs off my shoulder
How can I hurt when I'm holding you

    One, touching one
Reaching out, touching me, touching you

    Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
    I'd be inclined
    To believe they never would
    So good, so good

'Fire' was by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, whose keyboard player was Vincent Crane. Vinny went on to form Atomic Rooster, whose drummer was Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake & Palmer fame. Atomic Rooster was the first real band I ever saw - I can't have been long out of kindergarten at the time! It's quite a coincidence that you posted this - I played 'The Best of & the Rest of Atomic Rooster' only yesterday (or was it the day before?). It sounds very dated now, but 'Tomorrow Night' still gets me singing along! Didn't Vincent Crane commit suicide?

    OOOOH, YOU RIGHT, CATH!

that explains why i cannot find "fire" in any atomic rooster albums! it was done under vincent's first band, "the crazy world of arthur brown!" classic!

i believe he did commit suicide. his songs kinda gave it away. he sure was disturbed! nice touch on the emerson, lake & palmer bit. atomic rooster rocks. i was very young, but way ahead of my time. heh? i had to say that, you see.

i am willing to bet you know the chambers brothers too.

thanx, dude! you are a fountain of information!

You'd lose the bet - I'm not familiar with the Chambers Brothers at all!

I was ahead of my time too. I was lucky to be friends with someone whose brother was the right age. He was in college when I just started high school. He hung around with people like Paul Kossoff (Free). I got to hear loads of bands at an early age.

ahhh... the chambers brothers were yanks!

you brit, so that makes some sense!

they (chambers bros) were pioneers, you see. they were the first "black" band who did "white" rock music. the ultimate in cool!
