WTF, has Weinke done for people to still want him in there? The pro Weinke fans just amaze me to still want him in there. He has shown nothing in over 20 f****** games.

Peete will be there for only a few games, until we make a deal for another QB or get Fasani ready. Either way I can live with this decision.

I mean hell the one pre-season game that Weinke didn't stink up the place our offense still sucked. You aren't going to win many games with your YPA sitting at 4.0.

Some see this as a step back but from playing sports or being a fan I would much rather be on a 1-15 team that busted it's ass than a 1-15 team where the QB is asleep like Siefert was.

All may not be lost on Weinke, but he needs this damn wake-up call if he is ever to do us any good or another team in the future for that matter.

I guess I'm a believer. Shocks the Hell out of me, but I guess the Panthers are going the play the players that show it on the field. Even if it is against the 3rd string. Hell I don't know, I'm lost.

That 1-15 season is an awful lot to blame on Weinke alone. He helped keep us in some of those games and the D opened the door for the other team to pull away. Wasn't it 8 games decided by a FG or less? Some on Weinke, but I would say most would have to be blamed on our bend & break D in the fourth qtr.
That said, fact is, if Weinke isn't starting he should be gone...it's best for both parties.

This thing seems to have the W backers in a state of shock, but it could work out for the best all around. Suppose this does help W to get the shit out of his pants and regain the position after Peete goes out and stinks up the game. Then all the cards are on the table and W either shows something or is outta here.

#2 If Peete actually starts winning then W has some time to improve at a decent rate. Peete's certainly not the future.

#3 If Peete and W stink then who would complain if Fasani were given a chance and he might stink as well, but at least we would know what we need in the draft.

I am not necessarily in Weinke's corner because he's Weinke. There is logic to it.
*Fasani isn't ready to be the #1 yet. While the team seems to rally around him, they did the same with Craig. Bad comparison, but I think everyone can see what I am saying. Fasani may very well be the extended future of the team, but the immediate future he is not.
*Weinke and Peete are not comparable. Weinke is the better of the two. But, Peete has that vet swagger and can work through situations. Plus, he has a past in this offensive scheme.
*Weinke is the guy one would expect to be the starter. From what I am hearing he hasn't played that bad...but not that good either. Now that I have read a little more on it and Fox has stated that Weinke is still the future of the Panthers, I am more comfortable with the idea of him moving to the bench...for now!

Likewise. I was behind him because he was and is the most talented player we have at quarterback.

No PantherPaul, I am not.... Its way to soon to say I told you so. Fasani had a few good games in the preseason. I think we have as good a chance with him as any...

I understand it will be impossible to overcome my status with you guys when it comes to Panther QB discusssions, I understand that. But if you will allow, I will restate.

Collins - I supported until he punked out. I knew he would come back eventually and he did.

Bline - Probably one of the top 2-3 "people" to ever wear a Panther uniform. But I never wanted him for anything other than backup when it came to football. He is not the guy that will lead any team from start to finish to a winning record. So far, I am correct on this.

    D. Craig - It appears I was dead wrong about his ability to succeed in the NFL. More than likely this will remain true. (But then again, until his football playing days are over... :D)

    J. Lewis - It appears I was also dead wrong about him. (Same story as Craig)

Winky - It appears the Panther coaching staff sees some of the same issues with him that I do. Believe it or not, I don't think his NFL days are over by any means. Lots of teams go through spells when they utilize boring QBs that can only throw the ball in the pocket with 10 minutes of blocking. ;) (Bline had better field vision)

Peete - I don't know, I have no opinion. I saw the game Friday night at a party so I could not hear what was being said on TV.

Fasani - I really got a chuckle up above when someone said Winky was the most talented Panther QB... thats funny. Fasani's ability to be a "gamer" is a skill Winky does not have. Fasani's ability to "create" is not a skill Winky has. Due to my lessons I learned with Craig and Lewis, I'm not confident in saying Fasani can do it every Sunday. But at the end of the day... I'm very confident he can win this team as many games as Winky - That I'm sure of.

In closing, something that I always had a hard time explaining back in the Bline bashing days was that the "atmosphere" a QB creates for his offense can easily overcome some "fundamental" text book stuff that they do not have. Right now if it were 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter and my line was playing average, Fasani would be the first guy I call to the huddle.

So right now of the 6 Panther QBs I have taken a position with, I'm batting .500. Funny thing is I don't claim to be an expert.

Of course you would. It doesn't matter that you don't know anything about Fasani's arm. That he runs a 4.65 and scrambles, he's our most talented quarterback to you. You recently suggested that quarterback ability was measured in great part by his legs, so that you'd think that's funny, that doesn't surprise me. Doesn't concern me either, though.
