Fasani's performance vs. Atlanta wasn't bad. True, he's got a little case of happy feet...but this offense needs some kind of spark. I think Fasani can be a dangerous passer when rolling out if he is patient enough to let things develop.
Vs. the Bucs, he's going to be on the run or on his ass.

What I like most about this situation is he gets the whole week working with the first team. Plus, it will give the fans an idea of what direction to lobby for in the 2003 draft.

I'm calm about last game. We were hurt and overmatched. Never have played well in Atlanta. It's why I didn't pick us.

Can't this week either, though I actually think we may have a better shot if we can get our guys healthy and Henning stops dicking around with the offensive line.

Bucs don't have a great offensive line. Peppers should take Wakler a few times. I'm so glad we got Stuessie and Morgan than getting Kenyetta Walker and Jamie Sharper, as Siefert was conteplating. And Rob Johnson is due for a turnover game.

Unless Winky is cool this week, I got a feeling Fox will tell Randy... run Forest run... this is no week for him to stay there and take a lickin... I don't know much about Hasselwhatever, got nothing against him, but not just yet Matt, not yet...

I guess the one thing that still sparks my interest about Randy Pandy is a throw he made in the preseason. He made a completion for a first down when he threw across the field against the grain, while both feet had left the ground.... the commentator said it was "Farve like".

All things considered we were destined for a 4 game losing streak before the Randster came in last week. Something tells me he can make losing more exciting... :p

That's not going to work vs the Bucs. They are too fast for that.

And the Bucs do not blitz that much. They like to bring pressure with their front 4. We tend to do OK vs strong fronts alone. Very good, really. It's our blitz pickups that our lineman and backs don't seem to grasp. Part of that is, of course, the QB and recievers has to recognize that the blitz is coming. We suck at that.

Here's to hoping the Bucs don't shy to far away from their normal tendancies too much, and Fasani can make a couple of plays.

That's true. Who's Fasani going to outrun other than Sapp and Booger? That's a fast ass defense. Roll him, but protect him. I've given up on hoping he'll stand in there consistently.

God this is going to be ugly.

I think if Henning and Co. will put in a few wrinkles, and do something different that we've and the Bucs have seen from us, maybe we can surprise them and have a shot. A coupla gimmick plays wouldnt hurt either. That is the only way we can score IMO. Especially at the beginning of the game before they can adjust.

Something comes to mind like two scripted drives like NC State did against UNC where they just came out with outrageous formations and totally different plays and marched down the field with ease before UNC could adjust. Maybe if we can score a TD and FG within our first two or three drives and hold them to low a score, we'll just lose at the end by a coupla points instead of being blown out.

    Note to Henning

If I were the coach this is what I'd do:

Script two drives worth of plays, say 25.

Practice all damn week on these two drives over and over.

Go no huddle 2-minute type drill for both possessions.

Try and wear out the're awsome D right off the bat.

Then go to the armband for the rest of the game if you must.

Forget about L.Smith on sweeps, and use reverses. Use some screens to S.Smith.

Try a halfback sweep, but pass it back to Fasani across the field.

Make some new shit up, or we're gonna lose terribly at home.

Suit up Foster, and send him on a coupla pass plays downfield.

Get a fake punt play / FG try as a play to pull out, and use if when you can.

Do some thing outrageous and risky. The fans will love it, and you might eek out a lucky upset.

Do what you been doing, and you might as well forfiet.

except that an old standby in defensive strategy is blitz the hell out of rookie qbs who haven't had much game experience.

it's going to be a defensive matchup, so...there is a chance we could win. bucs offense is about as anemic as ours. i think the pressure is going to be on fasani all day though and he will not have a good day.
