Fantasia returns to High Point

A huge homecoming for Fantasia Barrino late this afternoon. There were well over 2500 people outside Providence Place when the white Ford Explorer stretch limo pulled up to the door. After she entered, the public was allowed inside the 2000 seat auditorium. Live radio remotes all around the building, the local TV station live units and satellite trucks from Raleigh were everywhere. An American Idol crew filmed for it for viewing on the next show. Fantasia's brothers performed and she took to the stage walking on and singing the final verse of their song with them. Fantasia received the usual welcomes from from city and county officials. She sang Let's Give Them Something To Talk About for the crowd. Lots of cheers and tears at the event, her grandmother gave a moving prayer for all. Fantasia said she was genuinely glad to be back in NC for 2 days to see "regular people." She commented that LA was too busy for her and then took her shoes off because she was "back home in High Point!"

It was a fun 2 hours that many in this town, especially the 100s of kids, won't soon forget. I can only imagine what it might be like if she does win.

how did she sound live and in person?

 

The singing was without the music so it was fair at best, plus with all the screaming it was just noise. In her defense, she comes across as cocky sometimes on TV but she was genuinely a confident "Plain Jane" and happy to see what she termed as "real people back home."

 

I wonder if her boyfriend (back ground with sloppy tie on) is the father of her kid. Just curious.
