nothing good has ever come from firing a coach midseason. Do you really think Jim Skipper turns this ship around, especially without John Fox here? Do you think we'll win more games that way? Coach Trgovac - does that sound like your ideal scenario?

Or maybe there's an entire group of coaches sitting out there on the street that will be better. Why not, right? Schottenheimer can coach under Cowher, right? Get Denny Green to run the offense. Marv Levy will leave the Bills and come coach special teams. Holy Shit.

Eggzachery! Any coach we would want is hopefully working right now anyway, other than Marty and Bill...but the wouldn't be able to field a staff this time of year.

read my post again-I said it's not normally a good idea to do so. I was very specific about the conditions under which it would occur (you've already decided to make the move) and the one benefit (player evaluation) that could come from such a move and the likely result (writting off the season) of doing so. Stop being a drama queen, you're making Fred blush.

That still makes it an awful idea. I can't name one situation where a head coach left or was fired during a season and things specifically turned for the better. So is the idea to just tank so you can get a better pick?

If the player evaluation passes, it's not going to be under the same coach or system, so who knows if it'll be valuable? It's not under the same conditions that past failure came against, so there's no baseline. And, of course, you can do every bit of this with the head coach still intact and without making anything worse.

    Neat.

Can he bring Brady, his entire (unheralded) offensive line, Moss, Vrabel, Samuel and Colvin along?

for not thinking it's a good idea, you're defending it. I don't think it's a possibility. If you don't, let it go.

Plus, there's no precedent for hiring a coach into a staff midseason. I wouldn't inherit someone else's mess, and player evaluation for a new coach is handled in the tape room. They're going to get rid of anyone not nailed down anyway.

anything is possible Mags. Likely no, but possible yes. You don't think Fox would see the handwritting on the wall if they do as you suggest and only allow some one to come in and look over his shoulder? What would he have as incentive to try and turn things around when he knows he's already toast? These players are tuning Fox out now if they haven't already. They aren't responding like they give a shit anymore. The whole organization needs a foot up it's collective ass right now.
