What's fair price for a 2008 Toyota Tacoma 4 door with 40,000 miles on it when the asking price is 23,000?

Private sell should tell you what it is worth if you tried to sell it yourself.

A Chevy Silverado with 198,000 miles will barely get me $3,000 dollars. Nice link Wolfy.

I'd take it and ship it to South America and make some money if I were you.

lol. Probably not in those exact words. A friend of mine takes old clunkers and ships them down to Costa Rica. The repairs are cheaper there and he still makes a profit after selling them.

Kelley Blue Book shows the fair price for that car around $13k. I think that's pretty low considering it's only 2 years old. Though 40k miles is a bit high, that's 20k/year average. Normal mileage is around 12-15k/year.

40,000 miles is high for a 2008. It knocks off at least 2,500 bucks on it's value. go to edmunds.com and get a true market value[TMV] on it.
