So as it would stand right now, the NFC South would have both Wild Card spots. Cool

If he's still starting at nickel. I'm wondering if Dante Wesley might not sneak into the lineup this week at either dime or nickel after McDaniel got burned so bad by Driver.

    Thoughts?

Wesley still has a ways to go but that we signed a linebacker to replace Fair being hurt says that he should be out there soon. If he plays better than McDaniel, which shouldn't take much right now, we might see him more.

Am I the only one waiting for the other shoe to drop on Peete's play? A good chunk of what has gotten us here has been smart play at the QB position. I think Ray Lewis actually said something about it in our opener, something to the effect that since Peete hadn't played in a game in so long that there wasn't a whole lot of film on him. It sure seems like he locks in on his target when he is throwing, and thusfar hasn't been made to pay so much. Our whole philosophy is built around the offense NOT turning the ball over. If teams start figuring out Peete's tendencies better, we could be in for some long afternoons, the wind could come out of our sails REAL quick.

As well as Peppers is playing, I sure am wishing we coulda had the 2nd AND the third picks in the draft, ala Washington a few years ago (Arrington and Samuels). Harrington played unreal Sunday for a rookie. The last time I've seen a rookie perform that well was Peyton Manning. How do you NOT throw any picks in your second game as a ROOKIE? I got Sega NFL 2K3 and its hard for me to go a whole game without an INT on the fuckin xbox, so I can't comprehend that in real life.

I still think we are a legit QB and a decent WR (I refuse to start the Muhammed debate at this juncture) away from really contending, so I can't get really pumped just yet, although I am certainly pleased that we don't suck.

I played the NFL2K, Biak rushed for like 500 yards and 7 TD's and I got bored and took it back. That game was too easy. My point is you won't have an interception if you can run successfully.....and I'm not exagerating on TB. He could not be stopped.

You make some good points though. Peete does lock in, I heard the announcer say so, but Peete don't play defense. And we're a running team. We missed Smith at the end of the game last week. Peete was maybe asked to do a little more because of it. When we can run the ball, Peete is an accurate passer. He's maybe doing all he can right now, we know that, but that's all he'll be required if we can run, which we can.

I keep going back to the very first days Peete was in camp. The article said something about Peete putting on a throwing exibition with targets. I'll have to go find it, I've been wanting to read it again.

Expectations are higher though. What some would have been happy with 5 wins will now be upset with less than 8. I'm more hopeful we make the play-offs, but they have to not turn it over and and cut down on those drive killing penalties.

There's no need to do so. Muhammad's not going anywhere any time soon. Smith's RFA in another year and only works in an upfield role - at some point we're going to actually start moving the chains with the pass and get more than ten completions in a game - the way we're using Smith is the way most teams would use a third receiver. He's certainly not a first, and while he is and always will be a playmaker no mattwe where he's playing, we could use someone more consistent and just as potent.

The biggest needs I see now are a top receiver and a 'future' qb.

The good news - the qb might be on the roster already. Might not be, but he might be. That would be just wonderful.

I'm also concerned about some of our young free agents next year. Hoover will cost us, but I see us keeping him. Howard might also cost us, particularly being the numbner one defense and all. Same with Navies, who's apparently doing a fine job holding off Witherspoon even though we don't hear much from him. Nesbit's gonna be there, too.

But yeah - I think one more stud receiver, and we'll have an offense to go with that defense.

I hope Foster isn't just a pussy who gets hurt every time he holds the ball.

And oh yeah - we need a FUCKING PLACE KICKER.

Yea, thats what I said 2 WCs. :D

Seriously though - we should be pulling for Green Bay to win their division, starting with beating the Bears this weekend. We will lose a tie breaker with them based on head-to-head later if we finish with the same record.

If that quarterback is on the roster, he'll have to beat a pick or a FA, because I doubt he'll get to see much playing time this year and early success with an athletic player rarely amounts to any guarantee in the future. very tenuous.
