I got another - I think this may be my last problem -

    I need to do this:

    =SUM(B5*C5)+(B6*C6)+(B7*C7)

except I need it to go all the way to (B54*C54)

Is there a way to do that without typing out every formula from B8 through B54?

    This is fun, sort of.

    It's not this:

    =SUM(B5*C5):(B54*C54)

    :sadbanana:

Just copy and paste it and it should keep the references consistent.

One of us is confused - could be me:

I want 1 cell to equal the sum of the products of B5*C5 all the way to B54*C54.

I'm not sure what to copy and the paste into the one cell.

Or use one column to calculate the products and then another cell to sum them.

You don't have to do everything at once. You can break it down and calculate everything individually too.

    and for simple calculations, like B5*B6 + C5 - D9, you don't need SUM...just = and your formula...

Most people could use a simple 2 hour class in Excel to see how easy it is to do REALLY powerful stuff. Excel 2007 has some REALLY neat stuff for charting and conditional formatting that is AWESOME with large spreadsheets.

Yeah I thought about a class. Problem is, I use it like maybe twice a year, and I'd forget it all by the time I needed to do it again.

Respect. You don't need the class, brain power and "stick-to-itiveness" can solve the problems you're facing. But there are others that could use a class :).

I got some basic books (like 50 pages) on Office products a few years ago, learned a few tricks about Word, Excel, Powerpoint that have stuck and paid dividends. But then, I write docs, make powerpoints, and crunch data A LOT, so it stuck.
