I was simply pointing out the irony in calling a "theme" at a Christian Church "Evolution". If you want to call that "baiting" to make yourself feel better about the situation, go right ahead.

I honestly very rarely try to decipher what's literally true in the Old Testament. Like I said earlier, it's not really the point. Specifically on the parting of the Red Sea, Moses didn't part the Red Sea, God did.

There may be no evidence to you. I have seen God act and heard God's voice in a very tangible way in my life. While it's not evidence I can share with you, I know that God is real.

I'm sorry if you mis-construed what I meant by not having patience for these debates. I didn't mean to suggest that they shouldn't take place, just that I have no real interest in participating. I don't believe my journey is any better than anyone else's. I've never pushed any type of agenda around here, only answered the questions that were asked of me (like I'm doing now). I don't pretend to know everything - heck, I don't pretend to know much at all - just giving my two cents. I think you're perfectly entitled to express your opinions.

That being said, i think this thread as gone way off track and now has become no different than the hundred other "God vs No God" threads in this forum.

Honest question (based on my own ignorance); do you believe in the FSM, or are you using it as a facetious construct for "deity x"?

I don't think it's a particular sensitivity, I think faith is something that's very important to people, regardless of what that faith is, and should therefore be treated with a certain level of respect. I think this is the place for questions/discussions, but not ridicule.

Did Jesus heal leprosy with his fingertips? Turn water into wine? Ascend to heaven on the wings of angels? Or did God do all these things?

I have seen Bigfoot act and heard Bigfoot's voice in a very tangible way in my life. While it's not evidence I can share with you, I know that Bigfoot is real.

I have seen aliens act and heard alien's voice in a very tangible way in my life. While it's not evidence I can share with you, I know that aliens [are] real.

I have seen Elvis act and heard Elvis's voice in a very tangible way in my life. While it's not evidence I can share with you, I know that Elvis is real.

This is not ridicule. I am making a point about subjective emotions.

Threads in a discussion forum have a way of doing that. The expectation of control is often a disappointing one. Blogs are better suited for that.

I am going to answer that question with "Yes". As a result, I expect the same level of respect that you and others expect for their Christian beliefs.

It goes both ways. If you feel I am being disrespectful of your supernatural beliefs, you are free to return the favor on mine. I honestly do prefer "objective" debate over namecalling and ridicule. But certain posters make that impossible.

I believe so, yes. Jesus and God are two parts of the same entity.

I don't expect to have any kind of control in these forums, just commenting on how I think it's pretty tired that every thread dissolves into the SAME argument.

    Ok. Of course.

Well, per the guidelines set forth by the mods of this particular forum, this is a "no sniping zone". If an objective debate is what you're seeking, I think we should "rise up" to that level as opposed to sinking to the "if you're disrespectful, I'll be disrespectful" level. I'm certainly willing to agree to that.

That fact does speak volumes about the nature of religion. Typically, when you peel back the layers of evidence or the lack thereof, it often comes down to a matter of faith either way and in every flavor of religion.

One can neither absolutely prove nor disprove the existence of any spiritual entity or force, and so it boils down to what makes the most sense, personally, to each individual.
